[Comparative study on x-ray and scintigraphie pictures and blood gases in sarcoidosis (author's transl)].

Scintigraphic examination of the lungs in sarcoidosis has been used as a supplement method of the functional examination. Perfusion scintigraphy enables to locate places with lowered regional perfusion in the form of spotted fall outs. In some cases of hilar lymphonodular forms of sarcoidosis we can already find some diffuse spotted fall outs of perfusion even if parenchymatous changes are still not visible. Up to now we have not seen any lobar or alar fall outs of radioactivity, as they can be found in central types of bronchogenic carcinoma. In sarcoidosis with micro- or macronodular X-ray shadows the scintigraphic defect in its extent sometimes does not correspond to these changes. On the basis of our material the mutual relation between scintigraphic pictures on one hand and blood gases on the other hand could not been neither confirmed nor eliminated.

[Immunoglobulin E and its relation to bronchial asthma].

This paper presents a comparison of the levels of IgE in blood serum in a group of healthy persons, a group of persons suffering on asthma bronchiale of an infectious type and of the group of patients suffering in atopic type of asthma bronchiale. The quantitative estimation of IgE in sera was accomplished by the radioimmunoassay "Phadebas IgE Test". The blood levels of IgE of healthy persons and those suffering on infectious asthma bronchiale had no striking differences. The patients suffering on atopic asthma bronchiale showed a tremendous rise of blood IgE, that could be suppressed by the therapeutic application of corticosteroids (Triamcinolon). After the withdrawal of corticosteroids a new rise of blood IgE has been observed. During the application of corticosteroids there was an evident suppression of plasmatic cortisol levels, which rose after their therapeutic withdrawal.

[Light and dark Purkinje cells (light microscopic and microautoradiographic studies].

The authors deal with the phenomenon of dualism of pale and dark ganglion cells in general, the phenomenon which, since FLEMMING (1882), still remains an actual problem of neurohistology. They deal with Purkinje cells from a special aspect with the aim to demonstrate the dualism through various staining methods. They directed their attention also to the question of the influence of perfusion and immersion fixation and length of staining with luxol-fast-blue on the production of luxol-positive (chromophilic) Purkinje cells. The authors have found that these methodologic circumstances do not influence the production of luxol-positive Purkinje cells, so it can be hardly spoken about an artifact. Examinations with the labelled leucine have shown that the increased metabolic activity can be observed in those Purkinje cells which in HE-picture are seen as pale ones. In the dark Purkinje cells leucine granulations are located on the surface of plasmatic membrane and they follow to some distance the main dendrite of those cells. The microautoradiographic method evidences for the increased leucine metabolism of the pale Purkinje cells as well.
