Family therapy with the whole family after a divorce has taken place provides a unique opportunity for intervention. Though the spouses have legally terminated their relationship, their parenting function remains. However, this reality is often clouded by the emotional conflicts generated by the divorce. Family therapy can be useful in facilitating life in the post-divorce period. A four-part model for intervention is described. The first task is to redefine the family as existentially including all members. Next, generational boundaries are firmed in order to reduce the parentification process, often intensified by the parent's physical absence. Third, the family needs to have a replay of the history of the marriage to correct developmental distortions and offer a changce to mourn the loss of the intact family. Finally, the therapists attempt to facilitate an emotional divorce. A case study is presented to elucidate the manner in which these steps unfold in treatment.
A case is reported of a baby with Pierre Robin syndrome born at term with adequate lung maturity. The evaluation of fetal lung maturity before birth by means of the lecithin/sphingomyelin ratio and foam test in the amniotic fluid revealed immaturity of the lungs. Examination of the tracheal aspirate following delivery, however, showed adequate lung maturity in the neonate.

The T-cell marker of spontaneous rosettes with sheep erythrocytes was determined in 34 normal term-deliveries on the peripheral lymphocytes of the mother and the corresponding cord-blood lymphocytes of the newborn, immediately after delivery. A consistently lower level of E-rosette forming lymphocytes was observed in male as compared to female newborns in different parity groups and in twin deliveries. When the mean values were calculated for corresponding E-rosettes of maternal and newborn lymphocytes in each group (female and male group of offsprings) they were nearly identical.

This study uses a task delegation questionnaire to compare 1973 physician extender practices in seven primary care-oriented sites with a physician attitude survey made in 1969. One additional site using no physician extenders was included as a control. The study involves both major types of physician extenders (physician assistants and nurse practitioners) in ambulatory practices with at least one year of experience in using such personnel. With minor exceptions, actual task delegation patterns conform with the 1969 attitudes of physicians as to which tasks "could and should" be delegated to physician extenders.
