High-grade pleomorphic T cell lymphoma with restricted involvement of skin and bone marrow.

Pleomorphic T cell lymphoma of the medium to large cell type expressing CD30 antigen is a most aggressive peripheral T cell lymphoma. Currently, there is no satisfactory treatment available for this neoplasm. We report the case of a woman with prominent skin and bone marrow involvement without detectable lymph node localization. This unusual presentation of disease responded well to polychemotherapy combined with autologous bone marrow transplantation.

[Immunohistochemistry of Borrelia type spirochetes].

We have looked for the presence of Borrelias by immunohistochemistry in cutaneous biopsies taken from patients with positive Borrelia serology. We used the monoclonal antibody "P41 Borrelia burgdorferi flagellin". We found Borrelias in the dermis of Pick-Herxheimer disease (3/3), erythema chronicum migrans (6/9), lymphocytoma (1/3), and morpheas (2/5). They were also seen in the vascular wall of hypodermal arterioles in a case of cutaneous periarteritis nodosa (1/2). Treponema pallidum was not revealed by the antibody.

Morphometric study of cauliflower collagen fibrils in dermatosparaxis of the calves.

The abnormal cauliflower collagen fibrils present in the skin of dermatosparactic calves were studied by electron microscopy and computerized image analysis. The structure of the fibrils is heterogeneous and varies according to their location in the dermis. Cauliflower fibrils seems due to a defect in the lateral cohesion between the constitutive procollagen polymers. This is associated with the presence of a non-collageneous material larger than the aminopropeptide surrounding the procollagen polymers, while the volume occupied by procollagen in each fibril is comparable to that of collagen in normal fibrils.

[Diagnosis and follow-up of syphilis by serological tests (author's transl)].

Sensitivity and specificity of TPHA, TPI, RPCF, Kline's and Kolmer's tests are compared in a retrospective study carried out on 2,500 sera. The interest of these tests differs as far as diagnosis and survey of syphilis are concerned and the association of TPHA with a quantitative test as Kline's test appears optimal. TPHA is highly sensitive and specific. Its positivity, which usually remains after treatment, is particularly valuable in the diagnosis of cases of late syphilis. Its association with a quantitative test brings a better evaluation of the evolutivity of the disease.

Immune complex disease associated with Peroben intake.

The clinical history and biological investigations of a patient presenting an immune complex disease induced by Peroben are reported. Biological signs were those of a drug-induced lupus syndrome. A provocation test allowed disclosure of its pathomechanism, since during Peroben intake a high C1q binding activity occurred and later regressed, while deposits of IgM and C3 were evidenced in the vessel walls. Complete or partial thrombosis succeeded accompanying a leukocytoclastic vasculitis.
