Clinical, radiological, surgical, and histological features are reported for a patient with a temporal lobe oligodendroglioma that had developed in infancy and was diagnosed and partially resected at age 10. The patient is presently 24 years old and still well. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of an oligodendroglioma with probable onset at 5 months of life and satisfactory course over 24 years.
Arteriovenous fistulas of the vertebral artery are uncommon. Trauma, arterial erosion by abscess and congenital weakness of the arterial wall are the most frequent cause of these fistulas. Few of them have been reported following percutaneous puncture of the vertebral artery. Two such cases, as well as an exceptionnel false traumatic aneurysm of the V4 segment of the vertebral artery in front of a fracture of the occipital bone, are described here. The latter patient also has a malformation of the craniovertebral joint.
An extensive and segmental spasm of the ophthalmic artery has been demonstrated angiographically a few hours after a car accident in a case with posttraumatic amaurosis. The possibility of a correlation between ophthalmic artery spasm and posttraumatic amaurosis has been discussed.
A controlled double-blind study was performed on patients with injury to the head and face which had caused rhinorrhea or otorrhea. The patients were treated, at the time of the admission to the hospital, with penicillin (20 mega-units daily) or a placebo. A total of 52 patients was studied, 26 in each treatment group. Meningitis developed in one patient in the placebo group. Staphylococcus epidermidis (sensitive to penicillin) was the causative pathogen in this patient who also had a retained intraventricular foreign body. The frequency of extra-neurological infections and of asymptomatic pulmonary bacterial colonization was similar in both groups, but frequency of asymptomatic bacteriuria was higher in the placebo-treated patients.

Presentation of two cases of open orbital roof fracture with destruction of all the orbital roof extending from the fronto-maxillo region to the spina orbitalis. After a first emergency neurosurgical treatment, a cast of the excised soiled bone fragment was taken and identical replica was made from methylmethacrylate. In a second surgical procedure, the resine mould was set in place by endocranicl approach, and was fastened firmly to the surrounding bone with wire sutures. In such types of defects cranioplasty and orbitoplasty are mandatory.
Pathological findings in a case of normal pressure hydrocephalus are reported with a review of the literature.
