[Effect of different mental loads on plasma glucose regulation in man].

Plasma glucose regulation is not deeply modified by attending a lecture or setting for an examination. Nevertheless blood glucose and IRI are respectively higher and lower before examination than lecture. These modifications can be due to a short increase of catecholamine secretion before examination.

[Adaptation of blood sugar regulation during muscular activity. Effects of training].

Our aim was to study the adaptation of energetic metabolism to muscular activity and the effects of training upon these adaptations. So we realized swimming and running tests on young healthy adults, selected in "trained" and "untrained". The effects of muscular activity were reflected by a raise of serum F.F.A., clearly noted in "untrained" subjects ; the levels of glucose and growth hormone both raised, but especially in "trained" subjects. Cortisol level raised in varying degrees while insulinemia presented little changes.

[Adaptation of blood sugar regulation during individually adjusted muscular exercises. Effects of training].

A twenty minutes exercise at 50 to 70% of VO2 max is followed by an increase of glycemia and F.F.A. Moderate physical activities could improve a better use of F.F.A., perhaps preferably to the glucose. Cortisol and A.C.T.H. levels raise, principally by the untrained subjects; however, that exercise is followed by a raise of STH, no dependent to the training's degree.

[Treatment of iliac artery stenosis with low dose streptokinase (author's transl)].

Ten patients with 13 stenoses in the pelvic area were treated with low doses of streptokinase (30 000 U/h) for 72 hours. A significant improvement in the degree of stenosis was obtained as shown by post-stenotic pressure values. Biochemically there was a marked plasminaemia with moderately low fibrinogen levels. Streptokinase treatment with low doses could form an alternative method of treatment in arterial stenoses.

[Therapy of arterial-circulation disorders in the legs. Muscle-ergometric studies under the effects of butalamine hydrochloride in a double-blind trial].

The extent to which a 10-day-treatment with Butalamine hydrochloride (3 X 2 tablets daily) may increase the muscular capacity in patients suffering from blood flow disorders of the lower limb was studied in a cross-over double-blind-trial. According to Fontaine comparative tests were performed with placebo and the substance in 19 patients suffering from stage II occlusion (either unilateral or bilateral). The muscular capacity in legs with blood flow disorders was found to be significantly improved by the drug compared to the placebo. Except in the case of exercise effect, the muscular capacity of the "intact" extremity however was not found to be significantly improved by the drug. Further specific studies with show whether the walking distance is improved by an increase in muscular capacity.
