[Surgical treatment of complicated esophageal diverticula].

In 1973-86 the authors encountered esophageal diverticula (ED) in 44 patients. The disease was clinically manifested in all cases. Concomitant diseases of the abdominal and thoracic organs were found in 27 patients; ED followed a complicated course in 23 patients. Progressive clinical signs due to increase in the size of the diverticulum and the presence of complications are considered to be indications for operation. The surgery was performed on 18 patients. Complications developed in 4 cases after diverticulectomy. There were no fatal outcomes.

[Various aspects of the pathogenesis of systemic vasculitis].

Based on the reported data and observation of 86 patients with different forms of systemic vasculitis (SV) the authors analyzed the leading pathogenetic mechanisms of generalized vascular injuries seen in these diseases. The data presented attest to the role of disorders of immunoregulation, immune complex reactions, an increase in the blood coagulation potential, a rise of platelet and red cell aggregation in the pathogenesis of the main clinical syndromes of SV. At the same time the authors describe in detail the microcirculatory disorders seen in the main disease entities and discuss the concrete reasons for the development of capillarotrophic insufficiency and marked tissue hypoxia. Close interaction of the main pathogenetic factors of SV and the character of the disorders determine the necessity of a differentiated approach to the problems of the treatment of patients depending on the disease entity and the leading pathogenetic components.

[Rheological changes in the blood and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) in systemic vasculitis].

Eighty-six patients with different versions of systemic vasculitis were examined for rheological blood properties and some immunologic characteristics. The relationship between the formation of immune complexes and disorders of rheological characteristics and cell aggregation was established with emphasis on the necessity of correcting these disorders by anticoagulants and deaggregating agents for the treatment of patients with systemic vasculitis to be successful.

[Local capillarotrophic insufficiency syndrome in patients with osteoarthrosis deformans (polarographic and thermographic data)].

The condition of microcirculation in the region of the joints was studied by means of polarography on oxygen with an oxygen load and thermography on the Soviet high resolution television set "Paduga" in 30 patients with primary deforming osteoarthrosis (PDOA) and 15 practically healthy persons. Different direction shifts in the levels of supply and consumption of oxygen in the periarticular tissues in patients with PDOA were determined, a considerable drop in oxygen supply to the regions of the affected joints being noted. It has been established that thermography is a method of choice for diagnosis of secondary synovitis and other inflammatory affections of the joints.

[Integral equations of the theory of liquid in the study of hydration of macromolecules].

An efficient numerical algorithm for solving integral equations of the theory of liquid in the RISM approximation for infinitely diluted solution of macromolecules with a large number of atoms is proposed. The algorithm is based on applying the non-stationary interactive methods for solving systems of linear algebraic equations. Using this technique we have calculated the solvent-solute atom-atom correlation functions for short fragment of DNA duplex of varying length in aqueous solution.

[Hydration of a fragment of the B-form of DNA duplex: d(GGGGG). A method of integral equations of the theory of liquid].

Based on the numerical algorithm proposed by us in [1] for solving integral equations of the theory of liquids in the RISM approximation we calculate all of the solvent-solute atom-atom correlation functions for a fragment of the DNA duplex d(GGGGG) in infinitely diluted aqueous solution. The obtained results are compared with available experimental data and results from computer simulations.
