[Dynamic aggregation of thrombocytes in acute myocardial infarct].

The dynamics of circulating platelet aggregates (CPA) in acute myocardial infarction (MI) was correlated to its extent, localization and clinical outcome. Creatine kinase (CK) and CPA were measured in 30 patients with acute MI 24 hours after its onset, and on the third, fifth and eighth day following the accident. Twelve patients had anteroseptal MI, another 12 had inferior, and the remaining 6 had non-Q wave MI. 24 hours after the accident CPA values differed significantly between the three groups (p < 0.05). The values of CPA increased with increasing CK. In all the patients CPA and CK returned to normal or almost normal values on days 8 and 5 following MI, respectively. Eleven patients (37%) had heart failure: 8 of them (73%) had anteroseptal MI and 3 had inferior MI (27%). In 10 patients with heart failure (91%) and only in 2 out of 19 patients without heart failure (10.5%), CPA peaked on days 3 or 5 after MI (p < 0.05). In all other patients CPA declined steadily from the initial value. These results suggest that platelet aggregability is significantly associated with the severity of MI and with heart failure.

[Significance of HLA antigen system investigation in children with malignant lymphoreticular diseases].

These last few years investigations of the HLA system antigens in children with malignant lymphoreticular diseases have been considered as highly significant. The correlation between the frequency of the HLA system antigens and malignant diseases was studied in order to assess the influence of the immunoregulating and other HLA system genes on inclination toward these diseases, their etiology and epidemiology. The study included 50 children with various forms of lymphoreticular malignant neoplasms treated at the Children's University Hospital in Belgrade.

[Allergic reactions in cytostatic therapy].

The cytostatics used in treatment of malignant diseases may, similar to other drugs sensibilize the organism and cause various allergic manifestations. The authors present 6 children with malignant diseases in whom various allergic reactions, from urticaria to a severe form of Stivens-Johnson syndrome, were observed to appear during the treatment with cytostatics. All symptoms of allergy withdrew after the administration of antihistaminics. Difficulties in differential diagnosis of an allergy and tocsic effects of cytostatics are also pointed out.

[Chromosome abnormalities in malignant lymphoma].

Analysis of the karyotype from bone marrow tissue and lymphocyte culture of the peripheral blood was performed in 25 children either with Hodgkin's or non-Hodgkins' lymphoma prior to any treatment. numeric aberrations were confirmed in 40% of the patients; in these the hyperdiploid number of chromosomes ranged from 52 to 94, while 24% of the cases had cells with 47 chromosomes of which the surplus chromosome corresponded to those of the group C and, in one case, of the group G. The occurence of cells with abnormal chromosome sets confirmed presence of clonal evolution. This was also a poor prognostic sign. By using cytogenetic of high accuracy and by studying further the chromosome abnormalities, problems concerning the importance of these abnormalities in the etiology and epidemiology of these diseases might be solved.

[The most frequent intrahospital infections in children with malignant diseases].

In 100 children, suffering from different malignant diseases, who were hospitalized on our ward, during the period of 5 years, we have performed the examination of bacterial, viral and fungias infections. The majority of our patients belonged to the group, suffering from acute leukaemias and malignant lymphomas, 94%. In our patients was the clear prevalence of bacterial infections in the 41%, of all our cases. Most of children had the mild clinical picture, as the consequence of infection, while less of them had the middle severe or very severe clinical picture. Our position in treatment, was due to the fact that appearance of every febril epizode is conected with the existence of infection. The therapy was combined, and was consisting from: hemio, haemo, support and Rö therapy, recommended from the Highes group in 1975. The succesful treatment of bacterial infections was in 96%, while in 2%, in spite of therapy the end was fatal.
