[Cardiotropic characteristics of mildronat].

The paper summarizes the literature data and the authors' own investigations on cardiotropic and clinical-pharmacological properties of Mildronat. The medication normalizes energy metabolism, optimizes the functions of the heart, and improves the health state of patients with angina pectoris and cardiac insufficiency.

[Pharmacotherapy of intestinal dysbacteriosis].

The article presents a summary of the published literature together with results of the author's own investigations designed to study pharmacotherapy of intestinal dysbacteriosis. Reasons for the origination of the above medical condition are given, the particulars of its clinical presentation are specified. Clinical-and-pharmacological properties of chylac forte, a new effective probiotic, are detailed.

[The effect of metabolic agents on the antiarrhythmic activity of novocainamide and acetylnovocainamide].

The effects of potassium malate and sodium succinate on the antiarrhythmic activity of novocainamide and acetylnovocainamide during modelling of chlor-calcium-induced arrhythmia as well as in disorders of cardiac rhythm during modelling of pituitrin-isadrine-induced myocardial infarction were studied. The metabolic agents were found to increase the effectiveness of acetylnovocainamide and the toxicity of novocainamide. To interpret the specific features of the mechanism of the anti-arrhythmic action of the compounds there was studied their ability to form complexes with components of biomembranes and ions of biometals.

[Nuclear magnetic resonance in pharmacology].

The NMR spectroscopy has advantages over other techniques in studying the structure, kinetics and thermodynamics of rapid processes, complex formation and metabolism reactions in the solution. NMR is used for investigating the structure of biologically active substances and drugs, the mechanism of their action as it permits the establishment of chemical shifts of single nuclei in the molecule, the constants of spin-spin interaction, the time of relaxation.

[Membranotropic action of cardiotonic agents and ubiquinone].

Interaction of cardiotonic drugs (strophantidine acetate, suphan, para-oxybenzoic acid) and ubiquinone with phospholipid bilayers has been studied. Exothermic effect of the reaction followed by an increase in microviscosity and hydrophobicity of the bilayer from cardiolipin, but by a decrease of the microviscosity of the bilayer from lecithin has been estimated. A correlation is observed between changes in the lecithin bilayer fluidity and the heat effect of the interaction at the initial period of time after mixing of reagents.

[Mechanism of the effect of dibasol on the contractile and electric activities of the smooth muscle of the portal vein].

The effects of dibasol on spontaneous electrical and contractile activities as well as on the reactions evoked by hyperkalemic solution and noradrenaline were studied in smooth muscle of rabbit portal vein. It was shown that dibasol blocked the potential-operated influx Ca2+ into smooth muscle cells. The noninactivating calcium channels were found to be more sensitive to dibasol than inactivating ones. Significant part of the tonic contraction induced by noradrenaline was resistant to dibasol suggesting its weak effect on Ca2+ influx through calcium channels operated by alpha 1-adrenoceptors. It is supposed that vasodilative effect of dibasol is associated with blocking the influx Ca2+ through potential-operated noninactivating calcium channels into smooth muscle cells.

[Comparative assessment of the effect of sympatholytics and beta-adrenoblockaders on carbohydrate-phosphorus metabolic indices in the myocardium of growing rats].

The sympatholyitic ornide and beta-adrenoblocking agent alpheprol were introduced intraperitoneally in single doses of 5 and 1 mg/kg, respectively to 7--30 day and 3--5-month old adult rats. The content of ATP, ADP, AMP, inorganic phosphorus glycogen and also active P32 incorporation were determined. The 7-day old rattlings are shown to be more sensitive to ornide than to alpheprol by comparison with older animals.

[Isolation of the proteolytic complex from industrial waste waters from streptomycin production].

Dynamics of industrial biosynthesis of polyenzymic Streptomyces griseus system proteases and changes in their activities are studied in the process of streptomycin production. The method to isolate protease preparations is developed with optimization of production cycles of the stabilization, vacuum-concentration, ballast protein salting-out and lyophilization stages. The preparation is low toxic, retains 98% of the proteolytic activity at the temperature of 60 degrees C, 30 and 80%--under the effect of EDTA and urea, the activity maximum is at pH 7.0-8.0. The production technique of the preparation is estimated for its economic efficiency.

[Myocardial contractile function in acute heart failure during exposure to strophanthin and its combination with alpha-tocopherol].

In experiments on rabbits it was established that strophanthin (0.05 mg/kg) administered to animals with cardiac insufficiency due to a severe overloading of the heart function by occlusion of the diaphragmatic portion of the aorta by 4/5 of its diameter improved the contractile activity and relaxing properties of the left ventricle. This effect is however transient (up to 15-30 minutes) with the subsequent reduction of its characteristic indices, the development of symptoms of intoxication and not infrequently death of animals. alpha-tocopherol administered before the pathology reproduction (10 mg/kg, 3 days) increases the period of myocardial compensation and when given in combination with strophanthin significantly potentiates the cardiac effect of glycoside manifesting by an increase of the strength and rate of contraction and intensity of diastolic relaxation of the myocardium, prolongs the animal's life.
