[Effect of laser acupuncture on the pulmonary vascular resistance in patients with obstructive chronic lung diseases].

Clinical pattern of the disease, systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery, external respiration, central hemodynamics were assessed in 111 patients (50 with chronic obstructive bronchitis and 61 with bronchial asthma) to study the effect of laser puncture. The treatment course consisted of 10 sessions performed with application of Uzor apparatus in pulse regimen with 890 nm wave length, 1500 Hz frequency and 2 mW mean radiation rate. The results indicate a positive response to infra-red laser acupuncture evident from improved bronchial patency, enhanced bronchial sensitivity to sympathomimetics, reduced systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery. The promise of the laser puncture is attributed to its separate broncholytic effect and the ability to lower pulmonary vascular resistance.

[Clinico-immunologic aspects of using mildronate in patients with bronchopulmonary diseases].

The immunity status of 35 patients with chronic bronchitis and infectious and allergic bronchial asthma was studied. Defects in the humoral immunity were revealed. To correct the immunity status, all the patients were treated with mildronate. The immunomodulatory effect of mildronate was found in all the groups of the patients. Mildronate was shown to increase the activity of a secondary immune response and the bronchial potency in the persons with infectious and allergic asthma.

[Effectiveness of depin-E in patients with chronic bronchitis].

Acute course and long-term regimens of depin-E administration were evaluated clinically and pharmacologically in 50 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis (COB) and chronic cor pulmonale (CCP). The drug has three mechanisms of action: arteriolovenodilating, bronchodilating, direct pulmonary vascular. Therapeutic effect was achieved in 80% and 60% of COB and CCP patients, respectively. No response was demonstrated for patients with severe cardiac failure. Depin-E can be recommended for prophylaxis and treatment of CCP, to arrest hypertension crises in lesser circulation, to improve pulmonary circulation, central hemodynamics, exercise tolerance.

[Significance of echo- and vectorcardiographic studies of the heart atrium in the assessment of intracardiac hemodynamics and myocardial contractility].

Seventy three patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) complicated by paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) were examined. Vectorcardiography developed by I. A. Akulinichev and M-mode echocardiography were used to assess the status of left atrial and ventricular myocardia. An interrelationship was examined between the electrophysiological and echocardiographic parameters of myocardial performance, depending on the stage of circulatory insufficiency (CI). The patients with PAF-complicated CHD, unlike those with CHD alone, showed more severe myocardial conduction abnormalities despite the stage of CI. There were signs of compensatory left ventricular overload in the absence of clinical signs of CI. Comparison of ultrasound examination findings with high performance atrial vectorcardiographic ones increases the possibility of accurately assessing the cardiac performance by using noninvasive tools of examinations.

[State of the atrial myocardium in patients with paroxysmal form of fibrillation arrhythmia].

Seven two patients with coronary heart disease complicated with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were studied by using accelerated atrial vector cardiography and M-mode echocardiography. Vector cardiography made it possible to reveal the signs of left atrial hyperfunction with normal left atrial echocardiographic dimensions. There were lower values for left ventricular myocardial contractility in parallel with higher echocardiographic dimensions of the left atrium. In the patients examined, progression of cardiosclerosis was accompanied by decreased amplitude values for the P loop on the vector cardiogram strip along with slower intraatrial conduction with an increase in the size of the left atrial cavity.

[Effectiveness of using semiconductor laser in the complex treatment of patients with obstructive forms of chronic nonspecific lung diseases].

Laser puncture (LJ) using semiconductor gallium-arsenide apparatus Uzor (wave-length 890 nm) was made in 30 patients with chronic obstructive diseases of the lungs. The results were compared to the response in acupuncture. The study covered pulmonary volumes pattern, changes in bronchial permeability and partial oxygen pressure in capillary blood. A berotek pharmacological test evaluated LP effect on bronchial adrenoreceptors function. LP was found to promote the benefit of the standard treatment, to improve bronchial permeability, enhance oxygenation of arterial blood, reduce dyspnea and cough, to stimulate expectoration, normalize sleep and appetite. Lower doses or discontinuation of sympathomimetics became feasible.

[A case of successful antibiotic therapy of legionnaires' disease with lesions of the lungs and heart].

Pulmonary affections in patients with legionellosis are the main ones. The affections of the heart, gastrointestinal tract and other organs and systems are less frequent. Some characteristic features of the legionellosis clinical process in the case described are indicated. The torpid process of chronic bronchitis, the two-phase pattern of the disease, dyspnea at 3-4 month intervals, intermissions, edema and failure of complex therapy with antibiotics and cardiac glycosides provided a tentative diagnosis of Legionella pneumonia with affection of the myocardium. The importance of early serological diagnosis (enzyme immunoassay) was shown. A new approach to the treatment of legionellosis with cefuroxime was of interest.
