[Use of thermovision examination in hand burns].

With the use of thermovision set TVT-01 "Raduga" 17 healthy persons (control group) and 40 injured persons with the burn of various degree of severity were examined. In superficial I-II degree burn on the hand the temperature within the centre of injury exceeds normal level by 1.6-2 degrees C, and III A degree--by 2.2-2.6 degrees C. The healing of the burn wound was followed by gradual fall of her temperature, although she normalizes after epithelialization completion. In III B degree burn on the hand the temperature within the centre of injury decreases by 1.6-2.0 degrees C in comparison with the normal level. Autodermoplasty is effective only in the presence of temperature gradient between transplant zone and healthy tissues no more than 1.5 degrees C.

Operative treatment of deep burns of the scalp and skull.

Traditional surgical treatment of deep burns of the scalp and skull involve the excision of necrotic bone and soft tissues with trephanation of the bone to permit granulation tissue formation and subsequent grafting. This approach prolongs wound time, adds additional trauma and, even after initial healing, necessitates secondary soft tissue and bone reconstruction. The treatment described here is an alternate and more aggressive one involving early excision of necrotic soft tissue without bone resection followed by immediate coverage with well-vascularized axial flaps from adjacent intact scalp. This method provides an optimal environment for healing and regeneration of areas of destruction to the skull. This surgical method was used in the treatment of 22 patients with deep burns of the scalp with satisfactory clinical results. Bone regeneration was confirmed by roentgenological investigations.

[Analysis of fatality in the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Burn Unit].

The indices of burn traumatism in the Dnepropetrovsk region for the 10-year period are presented, and lethality in burns at the regional burn department is analysed. Improvement of the antishock therapy led to reduction of lethality at the period of shock, and didn't change essentially the general postoperative lethality.

[The role of a sympathetic pharmacologic blockade in restoring blood flow to the organ in acute cholecystitis].

By means of a method of rheography, in 74 patients with acute cholecystitis before and after the operation, and in 26 healthy subjects as well, the blood flow of the brain, lungs, liver and lower extremities under conditions of the use of benzohexamethonium, obsidan, aminazine and neostigmine methylsulfate was studied. Resulting from the use of sympathetic pharmacologic blockade, already by day 2, the indices of cerebral, pulmonary and hepatic blood flow normalized or exceeded the normal level.
