[The investigation of adaptation processes in sheet metal workers].

The study covered 100 individuals long working in hot metallurgic shops (forging and nonferrous metals processing) under unfavorable occupational conditions. Heating microclimate appeared to be leading occupational hazard. Adaptation to occupational environment was studied in all the examinees and 4 groups were defined according to the adaptation level and functional state of cardiovascular system. The study also included testing of psychiatric balneologic complex--bromide and iodine baths with magnetic laser therapy on Zakharyin-Ged zones.

[Acetylsalicylic acid ultraphonophoresis in the treatment of the pain syndrome in patients with lumbar osteochondrosis].

Data are reported of an experimental-clinical substantiation and therapeutic use of acetylsalicylic acid ultraphonophoresis of pain syndromes of radicular and reflex genesis in 144 patients with lumbar osteochondrosis. Improvement was noted in 57.3% in severe pain, 31.2% in moderate pain, and 75% in mild pain. Aspirin ultraphonophoresis was effective in pain syndrome of radicular genesis in 71% of cases and in 60.5% of reflex genesis.

[Use of the beta adrenergic blockader test for evaluation of extracardiac regulation of heart function in patients with coronary pathology of various degrees of severity].

The beta-adrenoblocker test was applied to the evaluation of extracardial regulation of heart activity in 50 men with coronary heart disease (CHD). The patients were divided into 3 functional classes in terms of the gravity of coronary pathology, with the threshold power being 150-300, 450-600 and 750-900 kgm/min. Application of the test made it possible to establish that the status of extracardial regulation characterizes the functional component in the pathogenesis of CHD rather than the gravity of atherosclerotic lesions of the coronary artery, thereby permitting one to form the judgement about the latent reserve capacities of the heart.

[Extracardiac regulation of cardiac rhythm in thyroid diseases].

Extracardiac control of the cardiac rhythm in various diseases of the thyroid gland depending on its functional activity was studied on the basis of mathematical and statistical indices of cardiac rhythm and excretion of adrenalin and noradrenaline in the urine. Considerable activation of central and inhibition of the autoregulation contour was revealed in thyrotoxicosis, with attendant simultaneous increase in circadian adrenalin and noradrenaline excretion. No marked changes in extracardiac control of cardiac thythm were noted in patients with cancer of the thyroid gland, chronic thyroiditis and euthyroid goiter with normal function of the thyroid gland.

[Rhythm of the daily fluctuations in lipid metabolic and fibrinolysis system indices in ischemic heart disease].

The study was conducted on 22 patients with ischemic heart disease (I stage atherosclerosis according to the classification suggested by A. L. Myasnikov). Phase 24-hour fluctuations of the indices of lipid metabolism, blood coagulation, and fibrinolysis were revealed clearly. It was established that in the initial stage of the disease the diurnal rhythm of lipid metabolism does not differ from that in healthy persons. The rhythm of diurnal fluctuations in the function of the hemostasis system was marked by an increase in blood coagulation and decrease in the activity of fibrinolysis early in the morning, which created the conditions for intravascular thrombus formation.

[Rhythm of the daily changes in functions in ischemic heart disease].

The daily changes in the functional state of the cardiovascular system and in the indices of bioelectric activity and hemodynamics of the brain, as well as the daily variability of lipid metabolism, electrolytes and 17-OCS in urine and certain indices of hemostasis were studied in 162 patients with ischemic heart disease. It was shown that, as compared to healthy individuals, patients with ischemic heart disease had a smaller amplitude of fluctuations in the daily rhythm with displacement of the peaks of activity to a later time. The only exception was the daily excretion of 17-OCS and aldosterone, the amplitude of fluctuations of which was close to that of these indices in healthy individuals but was distinguished by a displacement of 4 hrs. It is concluded that the biological clocks are sensitive to the changing conditions in which the systems of the organism function in ischemic heart disease.
