Nineteen immunocompromised patients with extensive skin lesions caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa with or without P. aeruginosa bacteremia were analysed. Patients whose lesions originated in the skin were in the majority (14 patients). Skin lesions were located at the site of entry of bacteria (apocrine areas in 12 patients). Cutaneous lesions were pleomorphic but the typical picture of ecthyma gangrenosum was common in this group of patients. Only 2 of them developed P. aeruginosa septicemia and the prognosis was relatively good (7.5% mortality rate). These observations confirm that ecthyma gangrenosum may be a primary cutaneous disorder not systematically associated with bacteremia.

Three cases of intestinal microsporidiosis are reported, in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome patients, with a chronic diarrhea. The first case is associated with an intestinal cryptococcosis and with a cytomegalovirus infection and the second case was diagnosed on ileal biopsy specimen. Since the first description of Enterocytozoon bieneusi in 1985. 49 cases of intestinal microsporidiosis are reported in the literature, all in AIDS patients and the frequency of this infection is probably underrated. Prospective studies find it in 6 to 30% of cases. This parasite must be suspected in HIV seropositive patients with clinically chronic unexplained diarrhea or with intestinal atrophy.

Two patients with Factor V-specific circulating anticoagulant are presented: one had coeliac disease, the other Crohn's disease. In both patients the inhibitor appeared during flare-ups of the disease and disappeared during remission. This sequence was repeated after 1 year in one case, which seems to exclude a fortuitous association. No haemorrhage was observed. None of the usual aetiological circumstances was noted, which suggests that the condition was most probably auto-immune.

Erythema nodosum is an unusual manifestation of Hodgkin's lymphoma. One patient with long remission of Hodgkin's disease manifested persistent erythema nodosum beginning one and three months before relapse was clinically evident. So, the diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease should be considered in patients with unexplained recurrent erythema nodosum.
