[Degenerative retinal conditions after treatment with Busulfan during pregnancy (author's transl)].

A patient with chronic granulocytic leukemia was treated with Busulfan for the three last months of pregnancy. The infant appeared normal except for an atypical tapetoretinal degeneration. We studied the other cases in the literature. All pregnancies produced an apparently normal infant although three infants were small. The case of Diamond had microphthalmia. We conclude that Busulfan is perhaps toxic to fetal retina.

[Treatment of a case of coloboma-like papillar excavation and maculopathy with photo-coagulation (author's transl)].

A study is presented of a case of serous detachment of the mucula secondary to congenital pit of the optic disc. We observed during fluorescein angiography a late leakage of dye at the temporal margin of the disc. A lasercoagulation of this lesion gave a favourable result. All these findings support Gass' explanation implicating a mechanical defect in the region of the pit that permits spinal fluid to seep beneath the retina.

Congenital Abnormalities↗

[Role of anterior vitrectomy in the prevention of retinal detachment after vitreous loss].

A study was performed in two series of patients on whom lens extraction was done. Congenital cataracts were excluded from this study. In one series. the closure of the wounds was satisfactory; in the other, large anterior vitrectomy was carried out. The frequency of detachment (about 4%) seems to be approximately the same in the two series, but inflammatory signs and hypertony are more frequent when vitrectomy is not done.

Cataract Extraction↗

[Local indomethacin and early postcontusive ocular reaction in rabbits].

The local administration of a solution of indomethacin into the conjunctival fornix of the rabbit eye before anterior segment contusion has a marked inhibition on early post-contusion hypertonia. This result strongly suggests that local indomethacin could be of value in the treatment of accidental trauma to the eye as well as in the prevention of reactions following surgical trauma.
