[Plethysmographic investigation of the post-thrombotic syndrome].

In 49 patients with a phlebographically ascertained postthrombotic syndrome, who were above all subdivided into morphologically defined degrees of severity, after May and Nissl, a plethysmographic investigation was carried out with the deep positioning test and the venous drainage test. The results were contrasted with a group of 53 patients with a primary varicosis and the measuring results of 102 test persons with healthy veins. A very good correlation between the morphological changes and the haemodynamic findings establishable by means of the phlebembraxis plethysmography could be proved. A clear evidence was possible by means of the venous drainage test, whereas in the deep positioning test a certain demarcation was possible only in stage III of the postthrombotic syndrome.

Possible linkage of HL-A and GLO.

In 21 informative families with 60 children, a possible linkage between HL-A and GLO was found (recombination fraction approximatively 0.15). The sequence of the loci on chromosome 6 might be GLO, HL-A, PGM3, MNSs.

[69. Significance of work load electrocardiographic studies with reference to coronarographic findings].

The electrocardiography after work is assumed as an essential diagnostic aid in the evaluation of the chronic ischaemic heart disease. Differences in the diagnostic relevance of the results are related to the test method used. Therefore, comparison with the findings of selective coronary angiography is necessary, though the subject of ECG after work are functional changes, but that of coronary angiography are morphological ones. This study gives the comparison of both methods in 84 patients. In patients with coronary artery construction (greater than 75%) the diagnostic possibilities of ECG after work are limited. With regard to these patients it is pointed out that except of the obstruction of coronary arteries, as it is to be documented by selective coronary angiography, there are several further factors favourising coronary insufficiency, such as diminished perfusion of the peripheral coronary vessels, high levels of catecholamines, metabolic disturbances, diminished oxygen transport capacity or oxygen delivery. This may also explain the relatively low specifity of 60% of the ECG after work in the recognition of obstructive coronary artery disease.

Polymorphism of red cell glyoxalase I (EI: 4.4.1.5); a new genetic marker in man. Investigation of 169 mother-child combinations.

The polymorphism of glyoxalase I was investigated in 169 mother-child combinations from southwestern Germany. Glyoxalase I (GLO) has 3 common phenotypes: GLO 1, GLO 2-1, and GLO 2. The results are in good agreement with the formal hypothesis: Two alleles GLO1 and GLO2 at an autosomal locus. The GLO1 gene frequency was estimated to be 0.39. From the electrophoretic pattern the GLO-molecule appears to consist of two subunits.
