Enchondroma of the hand.

Thirty-three patients with enchondroma of the hand underwent operation for removal of the enchondroma and filling of the cavity with bone meal. Twenty-six patients had pathological fractures of the phalanges or metacarpals.

[Enchondroma of the hand (author's transl)].

The problems of the enchondroma of the hand, its diagnostics and treatment if discussed in this paper. 12 cases of handskeletonenchondroma, 9 with pathological fracture, 3 without fracture, are the occasion of this report. The treatment is in our opinion the scraping of infested tissue (excochleation) and filling the defect with bonemeal and immobilise the hand in plaster-bandage for 4 to 5 weeks. 8 to 12 weeks after operation the defect and fracture were consolidated.

[The influence of xanthinol nicotinate and of a hyperosmolar solution on the motility of the colon].

The effect of Xantinol nicotinate and of hyperosmolar solution upon colonic motility of man was examined in five patients with tranverse preternatural anus by means of intraluminal tonometry. During these examinations, a clear increase of the normal colonic motility could proved as caused by Xantinol nicotinate. According to previous animal experimental tests, and also based on our own clinical experiences, Xantinol nicotinate may be recommended for surgical practice as a reliable stimulant for colonic motility.

[Value of physiological coagulation parameters in perioperative consumption coagulopathy using low heparin doses].

In the course of extensive operations there are disturbances of the turnover-rate because of the activation of the clotting-system. These may equally be demonstrated by simple reproducible and quick global tests as by methods which are expensive and reserved only to special laboratories. By consequent low dosis-heparin-medication hypercoagulability-conditions and reactive hemorrhage complications are prevented and the hemostasis situation is significantly improved. No disturbance of the hemostasis by antithrombin-3-effect of the heparin-application in this dosage can be proved. The results of the examination including quality control and interpretation can be obtained in 30 minutes.
