This article deals with differences in work satisfaction, general state of well being, somatic complaints and work load of psychiatric student nurses and graduated nurses. Data were collected from a sample of 53 psychiatric student nurses and 145 graduated nurses. The graduated nurses reported an unexpectedly high job satisfaction of 70% compared to other working groups in hospitals. The student nurses were more content with their work and reported less somatic complaints. Furthermore the student nurses found in 20 cases certain duties less strenuous. In addition, the student nurses reported a more negative general state of well being.

[Psychological and psychosocial factors and relevant therapeutic measures in spontaneous abortion and recurrent spontaneous abortion and habitual abortion].

It has been demonstrated that psychological and psychosocial factors are implicated in spontaneous and recurrent spontaneous abortions. According to these results we showed in our review, that certain psychological disorders, such as anxiety and nervousness, psychosomatic and personality disorders, negative attitude towards sexuality and pregnancy, parental conflicts and others may impair pregnancy outcome. Severe psychological and psychiatric problems prior to pregnancy were rarely evidenced, in opposite, depressive reactions after pregnancy loss frequently observed. The results suggest possible interactions between etiologic and psychoreactive parameters. Relations between nervous system and reproductive organs may explain influences of stress upon pregnancy outcome, as elevated stress hormones (catecholamines, cortisol) are able to reduce fetal vascularisation and oxygen supply and possibly induce labour and abortion. These observations are of interest, because in a considerable number of cases cannot be found. Adequate counseling and therapeutics may help overcome depressive reactions after pregnancy loss and avoid further complications.

[Therapeutical treatment of primiparae to reduce anxieties in connection with pregnancy and delivery (author's transl)].

Two groups of primiparae were subjected to two different forms of basically behavior therapeutic treatments which aimed to reduce birth anxiety. In comparison with an untreated control-group a significant reduction of birth anxieties was found. There was no significant effect between the treatment-groups. Therapeutical success did not depend on anxiety-level before therapy. In relation to behavior during delivery a higher degree of relaxation was only found in the second experimental group.

[The relationship between the doctor and pregnant women (author's transl)].

In a sample of 112 women in the third trimester of pregnancy a generally good quality of doctor-patient relationship was found by means of postal enquiry. This corresponds with the high degree of health-behavior of these women. A favorable assessment of the time spent correlated with the time the women had to wait before medical examination, and the imparting of information by the doctor. The women's need for information was very high. After the (marital) partner the doctor holds second place in importance as a competent adviser. But the women want him to take a considerably more important place as an advisor.

[Sexual behavior during pregnancy (author's transl)].

In a sample of 239 women in the immediate post-partum period a detailed interview concerning their sexual behavior during pregnancy was conducted. It was found, that the sexual activity declines constantly during the pregnancy-period. Women, who reported a high sexual activity before pregnancy tended to be more active throughout pregnancy. Rate of sexual activity was negatively influenced by a poor relationship to the male partner. This impairment seems to be more essential than the influence of physical symptoms. Women with a positive attitude towards pregnancy also showed a higher rate of sexual activities. It was shown, that relaxed behavior during birth is positive correlated with a high coital frequency before and during pregnancy. There was no relationship between coitus in late pregnancy and complications during birth.
