Extravasation from aneurysms during angiography.

Six cases of extravasation from ruptured intracranial aneurysm during angiography were encountered during the past four years. Cerebral angiography was performed within several hours after the attack in each case. All had emergency radical operations and three of them survived.

Distribution of enzyme of nucleic acid metabolism in cow snout epidermis.

Certain enzymes participating in the degradation of DNA have been measured in cow snout epidermis, liver, kidney and intestinal epithelium. High activities were found in epidermis compared to other tissues. The enzyme profile of the epidermis was investigated in relation to depth. Those enzymes directly concerned with DNA degradation occurred mainly in the upper (keratinizing) layer.

Purification and properties of a lambda operator-binding protein which is expected to be autorepressor (tof protein) from E. coli carrying lambdadv plasmid.

In order to study the mode of action of the tof gene product, which is an "autorepressor" of the bacteriophage lambda and plasmid lambdadv, we have purified a DNA-binding protein which is specifically produced in bacteria carrying lambdadv. This protein possesses characteristics expected for the product of the tof gene, since it is produced under conditions where cI-repressor is not made, and since it binds to oL and oR operators on the lambda phage genome. The molecular weight of the native protein is 16,000-17,000 daltons, and the monomeric molecular weight as measured by gel electrophoresis in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate is about 10,000 daltons. Denaturation and renaturation experiments demonstrated that the native protein is a dimer of 10,000-dalton monomers. The lambdaDNA-specific binding protein is not produced in cells carrying i21dv or ø80dv.

Effective method for activity assay of lipase from Chromobacterium viscosum.

A method was devised for activity assay of the lipase [triacylglycerol acyl-hydrolase, EC 3.1.1.3] excreted from Chromobacterium viscosum into the culture medium; olive oil emulsified with the aid of Adekatol 45-S-8 (a non-ionic detergent, the ethoxylate of linear sec-alcohols having chain lengths of 10--16 carbon atoms) was used as the substrate. This method was specifically effective for Chromobacterium lipase acitvity assay, and was approximately twice as sensitive as the conventional method, in which polyvinyl alcohol is used for the emulsification of the substrate.
