[Applications of the peroxidase-anti-peroxidase technique in dermatology (author's transl)].

The immunohistological findings are reported in 62 cases of malignant lymphomas, pseudolymphomas and malignant histiocytic disorders of the skin. Paraffin-embedded tissue was analyzed with the Peroxidase-Antiperoxidase (PAP) Technique for the presence of intracytoplasmic immunoglobulin (IgM, IgA, IgG, Kappa, Lambda) ana lysozyme. It can be stated that the PAP technique appears to be a valuable aid in interpreting and differentiating selected material of cutaneous lymphoproliferative and histiocytic disorders. The method supplements routine histological and histochemical staining procedures.

[Formation and treatment of pathologic scars--clinical and micromorphologic investigations (author's transl)].

The results of treatment with Calmurid and Calmurid-HC in patients with hypertrophic scars and keloids of various causes are reported. Histochemical and ultrastructural investigations were performed in individual cases before and after treatment. The following results were found: 1. In the context of keloid prophylaxis and scar care, application of Calmurid and Calmurid-HC has proved very effective. The results of treating hypertrophic scars with urea preparations are also to be evaluated optimistically. 2. The local treatment with Calmurid or Calmurid-HC generally does not have a substantial influence on cosmetically disturbing keloids. However, the skin becomes smoother, more elastic and more resistant under Calmurid or Calmurid-HC therapy; a reduction in the size of the keloid mass is observed only in individual cases. 3. In short, the results are consistent with those which can be obtained with other external preparations which are specially recommended for treatment of scars and keloids. Success of treatment is especially dependent on the age of the lesion. 4. Disturbances in glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and collagen metabolism as well as enzyme defects are the most significant factors in the pathogenesis of pathological scars. The histochemical and electron microscopic studies reveal (of course with the necessary caution in the interpretation) that Calmurid and Calmurid-HC show an effect on distribution of GAG and on the enzyme pattern of the fibroblasts. The preparations may possibly affect the disturbed processes of collagen and GAG synthesis. The reduction of the mast cells in keloids and hypertrophic scars under Calmurid treatment is noteworthy.

[Genital bowenoid papulosis. Pseudo-Bowen's disease of the genital area].

This report deals with a new disease, which is characterized by multiple reddish papules on the genitalia of young adults. The histological picture shows changes of squamous cell carcinoma in situ. The possible etiology is discussed. It is too early to predict the biological behaviour of these lesions.

Psoriasis: odd varieties in the adult.

Occasionally we observe particular varieties of psoriasis and in rare cases transitional features with other diseases, which pose problems concerning the differential diagnosis and the nosological classification. This communication deals with the following clinical and histological aspects of psoriasis: 1) Sebopsoriasis. Relationship of psoriasis to pityriasis rubra pilaris. 2) Erythema annulare centrifugum type of psoriasis. 3) Is subcorneal pustular dermatosis an expression of pustular psoriasis? 4) Salient histopathological criteria for the diagnosis of the different atypical forms of psoriasis. 5) Presentation of an unusal case with striated and retiform verrucous psoriasis-like eruptions, which show a relationship to parakeratosis variegata.

[Immunocytomas and immunoblastic lymphomas of the skin].

Evaluation and classification of malignant lymphomas have changed decisevely in recent years. It was especially through immunology that these new discoveries were made. Some namely the immunocytoma and immunoblastic lymphoma. These lymphoma-entities of the non-Hodgkin-group are in the majority of cases neoplastic analogues of transformed B-lymphocytes. Clinico-pathologic correlations and the enzymecytochemical characterisation of the tumor cells are also described in this paper.

[Clear-cell acanthoma].

The basis for this review forms a series of 20 new cases of clear cell acanthomas and the literature on this subject. The clinical and histopathological characteristics of this not too rare skin tumor and newer histochemical and electron microscopical findings are discussed. Particular attention will be paid to the question of the position of the clear cell acanthomas within the group of intraepidermal acanthomas and the "clear-celled" tumors of the skin. Presently, the clear cell acanthoma can be classified as a benign epidermal tumor of unknown etiology. It is assumed that the clear cell acanthoma arises through a special disturbance of the differentiation of keratinocytes.

[Pharmaco-angiography with Priscolin in progressive scleroderma (author's transl)].

The morphological and haemodynamic findings in the vessels of the forearm and hand in 21 patients with progressive scleroderma are described. In these patients, brachial arteriograms have been carried out before instituting fibrinolytic therapy. Injections were carried out before and after intra-arterial Priscolin and the results were compared. Obliterative changes in the digital arteries are already present during the oedematous stage. Between the oedematous and advanced stages, there are vascular changes of progressive severity. In the sclerotic stage, the changes may be less marked, but more often consist of advanced obliterative vascular disease; this cannot be distinguished from the atrophic stage. The haemodynamics of the digital arteries can be influenced by Priscolin and this provides some information regarding the arterial side of the dermal micro-circulation. Even during the oedematous stage one can observe contrast stasis which is irreversible and not influenced by Priscolin.

[Lipoid dermatoarthritis (multicentric reticulohistiocytosis) (author's transl)].

The case of a 10-year-old girl with an infrequently observed lipid dermatoarthritis is reported. This is a systemic disease of unknown etiology characterized by a nodular eruption of the skin, mucosa and synovia, resulting in destructive arthritis and disfigurement of the facies. Biopsy of a nodule, whether from skin or synovia, discloses a cellular infiltrate consisting of histiocytes and multinucleated giant cells with lipid inclusions. No effective treatment is known.
