[Scintigraphic evaluation of posture-dependent stenoses of the cervical cerebrospinal fluid space].

The results obtained by scintillation scanning of the cervical CSF space at maximum ante- and retroflexion in 24 patients show that the method can be recommended for use in the case of cervical myelopathy when the polymorphous early symptoms appear and before myelography. Its use for follow-up examinations is also recommended. The detection of posture induced constriction of the lumen provides additional information and increases the sensitivity considerably because, particularly during retroflexion, minor inflammatory reactions lead to scintigraphically detectable reductions in the liquor space.

[Significance of radioisotope nephrography and sequential scintigraphy of the kidney for the indication of nephropexy in a hypermobile kidney].

In the present paper findings of radio-isotope nephrograms and sequential scintograms of the kidneys of 130 patients with mobile kidney are compared before and after nephropexy in order to show the value of the pathological findings for the indication of operative therapy. Flow impairment in vertical RNG, limitation of tubular secretion in RNG and activity depots and irregular distribution of activity in the parenchyma and system of cavities in NSC are of special importance for the indication of nephropexy. Both examinations are suitable for follow-up and for judging the success of nephropexy.

[Quantitative determination of regional cerebral circulation with Xe-133: lst experiences using this method in the clinic].

After injection of the radioactive noble gas Xe133 into the A. carotis interna, the regional blood flow in the brain is determined with a 10-channel measuring unit. From the first clinical evaluation of the findings in 35 patients, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. In epileptics, a localised hyperaemia very probary indicates a latent increased convulsive activity. 2. The measurement of the cerebral blood flow does not yield a contribution to the diagnosis of the type of cerebral tumours. 3. As a consequence of mass shifting of space occupying processes particularly endangered brain sections, also remote from the focus proper, show a localised pathological hyperaemia (morbid "luxus perfusion"). 4. Of greatest importance is the method for clearing up of pathophysiological relations, the clearing up of questions in connection with the blood/brain barrier function, and for the indications for and estimation of the results of vascular-surgical interventions.

[Diagnosis of brain abscesses by angiography and nuclear medicine methods].

In most cases, abscesses are formed otogenically or rhinogenically. The clinical symptoms may be uncharacteristic. The diagnosis is made by employing nuclear-medical and angiographic procedures. In 40 patients suspected of having a cerebral abscess, transfemoral cerebral angiography and in 14 cases gammaencephalography or cerebral scintigraphy was carried out. Angiographically, cerebral abscesses mostly appear as avascular growths while nuclear-medical or localised increase in the activity concentration suggests a pathological finding. The symptoms are uncharacteristic and can only be attributed to an abscess process in connection with clinical and paraclinical findings.

[Diagnosis of space-occupying processes of the kidney by sequence scintigraphy and renovasography].

Proof and classification of a space-demanding process of the kidney is most successfully done by means of renovasography. The nuclear-medical investigation methods give only unspecific references to the disease. Investigation results of radionephrography, sequence scintigraphy and renovasography of 130 kidneys with space-demanding processes were comparatively evaluated. Renovasographically the findings of 35 malignant tumours, 58 solitary cysts and 37 polycystic degenerations were correctly classified. The radionephrography is of no importance for the diagnostics of space-demanding processes. The results of the sequence scintigraphy were in demands of space localised defects of parenchyma, reductions of parenchyma and one a non-functioning kidney. These findings gave rise to angiographical clarification. In the polycystic degeneration the irregular distribution of the activity in the parenchyma, multiple parenchymal defects and the enlargement of the organ referred to the disease.

[Nuclear-medical testing of retrograde tubal transport mechanism for sterility diagnosis (tubal isotope test TIT) (author's transl)].

Pathological change of the tube is one of the most common causes of female sterility. While mechanical occlusion can be identified by the techniques of tube examination so far in use, tubal function can hardly be assessed by means of them. Described and evaluated in this paper is a test method recently devised in nuclear medicine for the assessment of tubal function.

[Indication for and value of scintigraphy of the intracranial cerebrospinal fluid spaces].

The experience gained in 56 scintigraphic examinations of the intracranial cerebrospinal fluid space with differential-diagnostic clearing-up of hydrocephalus, in the demonstration and the localization of liquorrhea and spinal-fluid passage disturbances are reported. The procedure has proved to be very reliable, side-reactions need not be expected when using Yb169-DTPA.

[Value of kidney perfusion scintigraphy in the diagnosis of hypertension].

The investigation findings of radionephrography, sequence scintigraphy and renovasography of 35 patients with hypertension were compared with the results of the renal perfusion scintigraphy. In chronic inflammatory renal diseases, stenoses of the renal arteries and space-occupying processes a good correlation of the findings is the result. The results of the investigations allow of the conclusion that the renal perfusion scintigraphy gives the possibility of a more aimed use of the angiography in the clarification of the renal cause of a hypertension.

[Experiences with fine needle aspiration biopsy of the thyroid gland].

It is reported on 155 fine needle aspiration biopsies of the thyroid gland which above all were performed in cold nodes. In 81.9% of the cases unconspicuous cell pictures or cystico-regressive changes were present. Of the 17 findings suspicuous of malignoma (11%) hitherto 2 could histologically be diagnosed as carcinomas and 3 as adenomas with considerable regressive changes. The additionally established frequency of nodular strumas and cold nodes in 547 scintigraphically examined patients had the results of 54% nodular strumas and 48.4% of cold nodes in the total material. In 90.2% the nodular strumas revealed cold nodes. The rate of malignomas of all preparations of operations of the thyroid gland was altogether at 2.9% subtracting the secondary malignant processes 2.4% were found. These findings as well as the positive data from literature give the fine needle aspiration biopsy an important role in supplementing the morphologic diagnostics and the early recognition of malignomas of the thyroid gland.
