[Masticatory pattern of patients with TMJ clicking].

36 patients with clicking of the TMJ during chewing were examined to determine the influence of clicking sounds on masticatory performance. Electrognathographic measurements of chewing movements in the sagittal plane were compared with the electronic records of clicking sounds. Four characteristic features of chewing movements associated with the incidence of clicking sounds could be identified.

[Cardinal criteria for TMJ assessment in sagittal magnetic resonance imaging].

In diagnosis and therapy of temporomandibular joint disorders magnetic resonance imaging is an ideal method for visualizing hard and soft tissue structures of the temporo-mandibular joint in a short examination. In this paper we present the main criteria used in interpretating magnetic resonance images and explain these criteria in patient cases.

[Individual physical performance capacity with physiological and biochemical indicators of stress].

22 health male subjects were exposed by a combination of physical exercises and heat. Strain related physiological and biochemical parameters were measured. Different individual reactions were obtained under controlled conditions. In dependence on the individual performance an increased mobilisation of lactat, free fatty acids and catecholamines were found. The determination of aerob physical performance can be applied for the evaluation of working capacity.

[Occlusal surfaces of glass-ceramic (Dicor) and VMK-crowns compared by electron scanning microscopy].

The surface of painted and unpainted glass ceramic-crowns (DICOR) was compared with that of ceramometallic-crowns by the means of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). If handled correctly and accurately glass ceramic presents a superiorly surface-quality. A disadvantage is the great thickness of the paint, that forces to make a compromise in the occlusal region: here we should prefer the advantage of the possibility to make a correct occlusal relation to the antagonist tooth with wax-pattern to a homogenous smooth surface. Ceramometallic crowns should get a real glazing finish and we have to set value on a correct modelation of the frame and an optimal veneer at the crown margin.

[Computer-supported analysis of occlusion using T-Scan system. First report].

We got first experiences with a computer-aided apparatus for occlusion-analysis. This apparatus is able to measure times of beginning and pressure of each occlusion-contact by a special foil. There is also the possibility to record functional movements on a film. Each measure result appearing on the screen, can be documented by an installed printer. The T-Scan-System can either be used for diagnosis or for medical attention in all domains of occlusion and articulation.
