[Chondromatosis of the hip joint].

The case of a 42 years old man is described who had complaints in his left hip since 9 years for synovial chondromatosis. During the operation 38 cartilaginous free bi dies were removed and at the same time synovectomy was also performed. The chondroma not observed and not removed at the exposure was spontaneously resorbed during the follow-up time. Authors think the case interesting because during the last 30 years no similar description was found in the Hungarian literature.

[Chondromatosis in the metacarpophalangeal joint].

The case of a 57 year old male patient is described, operated for synovial chondromatosis of the third metacarpophalangeal joint of the left hand. The pathogenesis and the opinions on the therapy of this disease, described rarely because of its localization even in the world literature, are discussed.

[Comparison of sonography and arthrography in the examination of cysts around the knee].

Authors used in 1988 simultaneously sonography and arthrography during the treatment of 10 patients admitted with the diagnosis of cyst or tumour around the knee. The experiences with the comparison of the 2 methods are summarized. As this use of the method is first described in this country, before the description of their own material the relevant available foreign literature is also discussed. It is stated that in the differential diagnosis of the cysts around the knee the 2 methods may give good complementary informations. It is stressed that if a choice is possible, the sonography is the method of choice, being exempt from X-rays, noninvasive, not causing pain and cheaper.

[A case of fibroma of unusual site and size].

Authors describe the case of a 56 year old man who was admitted because of soft tissue tumour on the end phalanx of his right second toe, growing since one year. The histological examination revealed a fibroma which made the wear of shoe preoperatively impossible. The case was interesting for its unusual localization and magnitude.
