Contribution by tomodensitometry to the understanding and diagnosis of benign non-epithelial endolaryngeal tumours. In connection with a case of chondroma, one of lipoma and one of rhabdomyoma.

The authors report on 3 cases of submucosal, non-epithelial tumour of the larynx: one chondroma, one lipoma and rhabdomyoma. A review of the literature is presented. These three cases have benefited by radiological imagery proper to tomodensitometry. This technique is certainly the preferential radiological examination, since it enables an appraisal to be made of the interrelationship of the tumour and its surrounding structures. It gives a probability diagnosis through comparative measurement of the tumorous density.

[Classification of radiographic findings in breast tumors].

By establishing an original protocol and pooling their results, the authors have attempted, at the level of their respective centers, to define statistically the results obtained by these methods of comparison with regard to two large groups of patient recruitment one depending on controlled consultations, the other on the consultations for early detection of disease. The comparative study of the results obtained on these two groups provides useful information on the significance which one should attribute to the frequency given by the different authors for several types of tumors.

[Diagnostic difficulties in mammography].

The authors point out the main causes of error in the radiology of the mammary gland. The source of these errors may be found at several levels in the diagnostic scale ranging from the object itself to the interpretation of the image by the examiner. Some of these causes are illustrated by definite examples: the absence of a radiographic translation of a tumor; round or finely irregular opacities. It is in the collaboration of radiologists with pathologists that the diagnosis is improved.

Reliability of the cyto-radio-clinical triplet in breast pathology diagnosis.

1. Two hundred and twenty-two cases of cytologic breast specimens were correlated with clinical and radiological findings. 2. False negative and no-cell incidence were respectively 2.7 and 2.2 per cent. 3. By means of a thorough clinical and radiological approach the cytologic failures (misdiagnosed and acellular smears) could be corrected: no cancer escaped diagnosis. 4. Cytology diagnosed three clinical and radiological undetected breast cancers, an incidence of 1.3 per cent. 5. Any suspicion of malignancy, either on cytologic clinical or mammography examinations, must be further investigated by means of biopsy. 6. In our experience, evidence of necrosis, even without other cytologic evidence of malignancy, has proved coincidental with mammary cancer.

[Selective galactophorectomy: technic and indications].

The authors describe the way of operating the selective galactophorectomy and discuss the indications. Each pathological nipple discharge may reveal a carcinoma. The clinical characteristics of the discharge, the results of the cytology, of the mammography and the galactography help to come to a diagnosis. This can only be confirmed after a thorough histological examination of the involved duct. Selective galactophorectomy is a simple operation that hardly leaves any scars. According to the authors, this method has a real advantage to find the diagnosis and to treat pathological nipple discharge.
