[Ophthalmodynomometry results in central serous retinopathy].

In nine out of 15 eyes with central serous retinopathy verified by fluoroangiography raised Pm. ophth. values were found. The average value of deviations obtained in these 15 eyes was significantly higher than in 30 controls. A possible correlation between central serous retinopathyl and increased peripheral cerebral flow resistance is discussed.

[Causal treatment of corneal vascularization (author's transl)].

Corneal vascularization is attributable to the swelling and increased lactate concentration in the cornea, which are caused by damage to the oxidizing metabolism. Invasion of leukocytes stimulated by prostaglandins also promotes the increase in the lactate concentration. The following causal treatment is possible: 40% glucose to combat the swelling, 3% cystein to improve the oxidizing metabolism and counteract the increased lactate concentration, and 0.5% indomethacin suspension to prevent the formation of prostaglandins and hence the invasion of leukozytes.

Corneal Diseases↗

[Reduced production of aqueous humor in Fuch's corneal dystrophy].

Fuchs' corneal dystrophy is associated with a reduced production of the aqueous humor, as can be established via tonography. The trophopathy and cornea guttata caused thereby are prerequisites for the production of Fuchs' corneal dystrophy. The aqueous humor production should be examined before keratoplasty, since the prognosis is questionable if the production is low. If no improvement of visual acuity can be excepted, keratoplasty should not be performed, since pain has also been relieved by means of intracorneal acrylate implantates.

The role of lactic acid in neovascularizations.

In this study the aqueous lactate concentration was determined. There was a significant increase of the aqueous lactate content in cases of rubeosis iridis and in cases of large intraocular malignant melanoma where a rubeosis iridis was present in 22%. These data seem to confirm the importance of the increased lactate concentration in neovascularizations.

[The fellow eye in acute angle-closure glaucoma (author's transl)].

With 5 years after the acute angle-closure glaucoma of an eye, in the fellow eye the same disease developed in only 15% of cases, but in 42% of cases in spite of the preventive miotic therapy a chronic angle-closure glaucoma developed unnoticed by the patients. Hence preventive iridectomy is suggested in the fellow eye.

Glaucoma↗

[A mixed kind of glaucoma (author's transl)].

Raised intraocular tension with reduced C-value was observed with completely or nearly all round open chamber angle in 10 out of 117 eyes after acute angle-closure glaucoma. These cases represent mixed glaucoma. The simple glaucoma element could be traced back to the damage caused by the malnutrition of the trabeculae during the acute angle-closure. A "primary" mixed glaucoma was found only in 3 cases.
