[An analysis of the pathogenetic significance of irradiations from mobile phones].

The biological effects of irradiations from mobile phones produced on different structures of the living matter, e.g. molecular-genetics, cells, organ-and-tissue, body and population, are analyzed in the paper. Possibilities of the genetic and epigenetic mutations, metabolic shifts, different-type cytopathic effects, oncogenesis induction, allergic conditions and of other processes associated with a certain lesion of the main structural-and-functional systems of microorganisms are elucidated. Irradiations from mobile phones are shown to have obvious effects on the molecular-and-genetic as well as on organ-and-tissue levels. However, contradictory enough data are available at the moment, which hamper a true evaluation of the unfavorable effects of the phenomenon both in respect to separate organisms and to a population as a whole. The offered analytic survey demonstrated distinctly a potential threat coming from a widely spread modern factor with the above threat requiring to be verified yet by special methods. It is equally quite obvious that, a need is shaping up to improve, in the future, the methods of detection and verification of "factor with finally non-established risk" as well as to investigate the potential pathological properties of such factors, which can essentially promote the system of the social-and-hygienic monitoring.

[Research priorities at medical prophylaxis faculty].

Medical Prophylaxis Faculty of I. M. Setchenov Moscow Medical Academy, which is now 70 years old, has made a significant contribution to development of sanitary epidemiological service in the country and training of specialists and research and training staff. The main forms of activities are training, research, and improvement of training and methodological work on the basis of research results, as well as upbringing of students. Despite the difficulties arising in the course of science and economy reforms, the departments of the Faculty continue fundamental and applied research. This paper sums up the activities of Medical Prophylaxis Faculty and outlines the main trends of research carried out at its departments.

[Working conditions and health-related measures in the processing of waste products of phosphorus-containing mineral fertilizers].

In the processing of the waste products of phosphorus containing fertilizer production, several major health-related factors were identified depending on the industrial site's peculiarities: unfavourable microclimate conditions (both cold and heat), relative temperature differences, noise and vibration caused by the equipment, semi-product's, additives' and finished product's dusts, fluorine- and phosphorus-containing substances' affects and poor illumination. The proposed data were used for health-related improvements in the occupational conditions.

[Data on establishing the MPEL for the dust of a polymineralic potassium ore in the air of a work area].

The article contains data on the norming principles for and the biologic action of polymineralic potassium dusts. The analysis and comparison of experimental and clinical data presented potassium ore as a substance characterized by low toxicity and weak fibrogenic action. In animal studies, the general toxic action of potassium aerosols exceeded the fibrogenic effects. MAC was suggested for working zone areas at 5 mg/m3 (3rd class of hazards).

[Sanitary-hygienic characteristics of work conditions and health status of workers in nitric acid production industry].

Workers engaged in thin nitric acid manufacturing are exhibited to the combined action of both physical and chemical factors (noise, heating microclimate, nitric oxides, ammonia). Within the working hours, ECG changes and arterial blood pressure instability are displayed in operators and technicians. Influenza, acute respiratory disorders and osseo-muscular diseases present the main causes of morbidity with temporary disability. Technicians are characterized by a markedly greater morbidity rate. Ammonia and nitric oxides, as aggressive media, lead to higher rates of oral mucoid, hard dental tissues and periodontium lesions. Health-related labour conditions improvement measures are proposed.

[Experimental studies of the combined effect of styrene and general vibration].

People working in modern carpet industry are exposed to a complex of factors of different origin, the most important among which are general vibration and styrene vapors. It has been found out in animal experiments simulating working conditions, that the central nervous system is the most sensitive both under an isolated and joint exposure to the factors. The joint exposure of animals to styrene and vibration may be evaluated as having different targets depending on the parameters under study.

[Problems of improving working conditions for workers engaged in the production of nitrogen mineral fertilizers].

The study results show that significant improvement of labour conditions can be achieved due to the introduction of a new distribution pattern of technological equipment, further improvement of equipment supply of the technological process, further mechanization of production operations, rational arrangement and disposition of control desks for technological processes, utilization of possible means of protection against noise, improvement of measuring machines, rational organization of the workplace for packing of stock-produced products and application of the means of small-scale mechanization, rational distribution of the sections of packing, filling and loading.
