Great emphasis is laid on automatic control of the most important parameters of X-ray image, such as contrast sensitivity and dynamic range, in the digital X-ray apparatuses that have recently found a wide clinical application in Russia and foreign countries. Methods and softwares are proposed for exercising this control.
The paper presents data on an [symbol: see text]KPEX X-ray apparatus and its diagram, outlines the operation of the device.
There is a description of a multifunctional portable unit designed for measurement of anode voltage at the X-ray tube, capacity of exposition dose and of exposition time (i.e. of X-ray diagnostic parameters).
Three variants of specifications of control devices designed to monitor electrical and radiation characteristics of X-ray apparatuses are described. These are: autonomous device, device with portable (pocket), computer, and device compatible with automated working place of roentgenologist. Results of experimental tests are discussed.
