[Urological symptoms in aneurysms of the abdominal aorta and its branches].

The clinical symptomatology of the sclerotic aneurysms of the abdominal aorta and its large branches is described, especially are described symptoms which are erroneously referred to the urinary tract. In our own clinical material of 47 patients with an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta 11 patients (23%) were primarily transferred to the urological treatment. The typical clinical picture, especially characteristic radiological changes are characterised in detail. It is referred to the early diagnosis and thus to the improvement of the prognosis of the aneurysms of the aorta.

[Renal function during passive orthostasis (author's transl)].

Glomerular filtration rate (GRF) as measured by inulin clearance and renal plasma flow (RPF) as measured by PAH clearance were determined in 9 mountaineers before and during suspension. The two step permanent infusion technique was employed for 3 periods of 8 min. GRF decreased from 123.0 +/- 14.9 ml/min to 25.3 +/- 3.9 ml/min and RPF from 791.0 +/- 101.0 ml/min to 129.0 +/- 20.4 ml/min within 24 min. These results are consistent with the occurrence of acute renal failure in mountain climbers after free suspension on the rope even after long periods.

[Local cold injuries; symptoms and therapy].

Etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical picture of local frost-injuries are described. By aid of literature, and by proper experiences in 49 patients, who had been treated at the University-Hospital of Innsbruck during the year of 1966 to 1973, therapy of local frost-injuries is discussed. Moreover the advantage of surgical therapy on the sympathicus over conservative treatment is pointed out.
