Electronic factors in the structure-activity relationship of some 1,4-benzodiazepin-2-ones.

Some significant correlations are observed between the CNS activities of a series of 59 benzodiazepines and some calculated electronic indices. The parameters concerned are the net charge on the carbonyl oxygen atom of the lactam ring and the total molecular dipole moment, correlations with the latter index being superior. The utility of the observed relationships is discussed.

The role of ovarian conservation in the treatment of carcinoma of the cervix with radical surgery.

This paper is an analysis of 95 cases treated surgically at the University of California Hospitals and at Children's Hospital between 1949 and 1971; 92 had abdominal radical surgery and three were done vaginally. Figures are analyzed by age, cell type, pregnancy status, and survival data. The numbers surviving for 5 years were 27 in the control group (26 living five years and over) and 50 in the study group.
