The injuries of the talus are rare. In this retrospective study, complications of 359 talar lesions are studied. Secondary displacement occurred in 8%. Bone infection remained low in spite of frequent primary skin injury (20%). Bone fusion was slow but no case of non-union could be found. Avascular necrosis of the body or of the trochlea occurred in 33% but could be partially prevented by accurate reduction of the fractured bone. Osteoarthritis occurred in 33%.

In rat the uptake of colloids by the femur and tibia is dependent on bone plasma flow even if other factors modulate the relationship. We warn Nuclear Medicine scientists against the use of colloid uptake measurement as a marker of the bone macrophagic population, especially in situations associated with modified bone plasma flow.
To avoid inadvertant anteroposterior wall suture in microvascular anastomosis, we propose a modification of the Harashina technique. Instead of using an untied zenith anterior suture, we suggest leaving the needle in place before inserting the seventh and eighth stitches.
Two irreducible dislocations of the distal digital interphalangeal joint have been seen by the author. One was dorsally displaced with interposition of the extensor tendon, and the other was a palmar displacement with interposition of the flexor tendon. Both cases were successfully treated by open reduction. A review of the literature confirms the rarity of this condition.
Few roentgenographic measurements could previously be done for bilateral cases of Legg-Perthes-Calvé disease. Measurements made on 106 normal hips of 61 children with unilateral Legg-Perthes-Calvé disease provided normal values at each chronological age for epiphyseal, joint-surface, acetabulum-head, head-neck, and acetabular indexes, and for radius and width of the femoral head. This new method allows easy calculation of all roentgenographic quotients of bilateral cases. A clinical example is given.

After having reviewed the historical background, the author presents the different applications of microsurgery in orthopaedics and in traumatology: nerve microsurgery (nerve sutures and grafts, neurotizations) and vascular microsurgery (vascularized bone grafts, free muscular flaps, free fascio-cutaneous flaps, replantations). Microsurgery is now part of the therapeutic arsenal of the orthopaedic surgeon.
The chinese forearm flap is vascularized by the radial artery. It can be used as an island transplant or as a free flap. The medial plantar island flap has also been called chinese flap. Advantages and disadvantages of these flaps are discussed in an attempt to summarize their indications and contraindications.
Intussusception in the adult is rare. The cases reported here illustrate the usual clinical development of the condition: incomplete, subacute, or chronic subobstruction. Intussusception is usually associated with a localized lesion, mostly a small bowel benign tumor, and a colonic malignant tumor. Diagnosis is effected using barium enema, ultrasonography, or CT scanning. Treatment of intussusception requires surgical intervention.
