Experience with computerized tomography, used for the diagnosis of aortic aneurysm, is summarized. This diagnostic method is shown, on the basis of 137 cases, to be highly valuable for this pathology. The results of computerized tomography were compared to postoperative data, which demonstrated high accuracy in the measurement of the size of aortic aneurysm. Being a noninvasive diagnostic method that yields an accurate assessment of the aneurysm size, computerized tomography has advantages over other investigation methods. It is concluded that, unless a combined lesion of other vessels is suspected, preoperative investigation may be limited to computerized tomography alone.
The use of computerized tomography in the diagnosis and treatment of purulent adnexal inflammations has made it possible to evolve diagnostic criteria for pyosalpinx, pyoovarium and tubo-ovarian abscess. By puncture and drainage of purulent cavities, under computerized-tomographic control, surgical intervention could be avoided in young women.
Unilateral adrenalectomy was performed in 32 patients with primary hyperaldosteronism due to tumour of the adrenal gland and with arterial hypertension (AH) of various degree of severity. Stable normalization of AH occurred in 14 patients and in 18 its course improved. The results of a retrospective analysis of a hypotensive effect, the morphological picture of the removed adrenal and the findings of clinico-biochemical and instrumental study made it possible to establish preoperatively the diagnostic criteria for the identification of two tumorous forms of primary hyperaldosteronism: aldosterone-producing adenoma proper and the tumorous form of adrenocortical hyperplasia. They have different pathogenesis and postadrenalectomy hypotensive effect.
Experience in the examination of 23 patients with polycystic disease of the lungs by means of computed tomography is generalized. A comparative analysis of the X-ray method of examination and computed tomography is made. The high accuracy of computed tomography in the diagnosis of the disease is demonstrated, particularly in detecting small cysts which are not demonstrated by X-ray and in the differential diagnosis of giant bullae with spontaneous pneumothorax.

The article describes the authors' experience with the application of computer tomography (CT) for diagnosis and treatment of 82 patients with mechanical jaundice. Invasive (diagnostic and curative) manipulations under the control of CT were fulfilled in 35 of them. A conclusion is made that CT gives an exact and objective information concerning the state of bile ducts under conditions of mechanical jaundice, confirms its mechanical character, makes differential diagnostics of its causes, allows to estimate the possibility of radical surgery. A highly exact puncture and external drainage of bile ducts under the control of CT are performed and may be the method of choice for diagnostics of alterations and decompression of bile ducts.
