Non-ischaemic high flow priapism resulting from trauma of the genito-perineal area is an uncommon occurrence. Resolution by selective embolization of the internal pudendal artery is currently the choice treatment. This paper presents the case of a 9 year-old patient where embolization with autologous coagulation achieved healing.
Presentation of one case of emphysematous pyelonephritis, an unusual entity usually affecting diabetic women with obstruction of the upper urinary pathways, all of which are conditions present in our patient. Death rate of this disease is high, requiring emergency surgical/endourological approach with appropriate antibiotic coverage.
Although complications post-URS are scant and can usually be resolved by conservative methods, these however, may be potentially severe as in the present case in whom a ureteroiliac fistula was observed during a URS procedure that had been performed to dilate a post-URS stenosis. Previously, extravasation had also occurred. The post-URS complications are briefly described and discussed.
We present a case of mandibular metastasis as the first manifestation of a disseminated prostate carcinoma. After commenting on the exceptional nature of the case, we underline the importance of histochemical markers (Acid phosphatase. PSA) to determine the non-filiated origin of a metastasis. It is advisable for this to be carried out systematically in all cases of metastasis of indeterminate origin.
We present a case of spontaneous renal bleeding due to renal neoplasia. We analyse other causes of Wunderlich's syndrome and, following Kendall, we defend the indication of radical nephrectomy especially of non-filiated etiology in the cases in which other causes have been discounted and the contralateral kidney is sound.
