Mass spectrometry of dimethylthiophosphinates of aromatic hydroxy compounds.

The mass spectra of 20 differently substituted dimethylthiophosphinic esters of aromatic hydroxy compounds are presented. Fragmentation routes were investigated using high resolution mass measurements, decoupled metastable determinations and deuterium labelling. All compounds exhibited abundant molecular ions and typical phosphorus-containing ions. Characteristic elimination processes strongly dependent upon the respective type of substitution were observed. Due to their high stability, their great ease of formation and their good gas chromatographic properties these new types of derivatives are of special interest for establishing gas chromatography mass spectrometry profiles of acidic catecholamine metabolites.

Proposal for a practical dose calculation scheme for neutron irradiations.

Dose calculations for neutron therapy irradiations should be based on the dosimetrically best accessible parameters "total absorbed Dose Dt" and "gamma ray absorbed dose Dgamma". By adequate standardization it should be possible, that only one single reference parameter contains all deviations of calibration, while a table of relative factors, only once to be determined, gives all long-term constant dependencies for all field sizes and phantom depths. A standardization is proposed for the irradiation technique with fixed fields at a constant focus-skin distance, giving rise to especially simple equations for the absorbed doses Dt and Dgamma. It is as well easy to get by these doses and mean relative biological effectivenesses rn for neutrons and rgamma for gamma rays the "total effective absorbed dose De", being an opportune quantity for the biologically weighted absorbed dose. The practical application of equations and tables is demonstrated for an opposing field irradiation as example. Adequately standardized "reference tissue air ratios" and corresponding equations are given for isocentric fixed or rotating beam irradiations and used for the example of a dose calculation within a phantom at the isocentre.

[To the concentration of delivery and paediatric wards in Rheinland-Pfalz. Contribution to the reduction of mother and infant mortality rate (author's transl)].

Delivery wards and paediatric wards or hospitals must be large enough to be able to afford the necessary technical equipment and personal. They must also be large enough to provide the doctors with the chance to experience deliveries which are complicated as well as rare in their nature or, in paediatric wards, serious as well as rare diseases. In rural areas delivery wards should have a minimum of 600 deliveries per year, and better still 1000 to 2000. Paediatric wards should have at least 80 beds, better still 100 to 120. There are still to many small delivery and paediatric wards in the Federal Republic of Germany as well as in the Bundesland Rheinland-Pfalz. Especially hospital births are scattered over too many tiny wards with less than mininmal equipment. 89% of the wards in Rheinland-Pfalz have less than 600 deliveries, 52%even less than 300 per year. In all probability the mother and infant mortality rate will decline markedly, through the concentration of delivery and paediatric wards.

[Clinical-pharmacological effective data on 3',4',-dipropionylhelveticosol].

In experiments of treatment carried out on 39 patients with cardiac insufficiency with tachyarrhythmia for the partially synthetic, new heart glycoside 3',4'-dipropionyl helveticosol the following clinico-pharmacological data of efficacy were approximately established on an average: level of full efficacy 2.7 mg, daily coefficient of disappearing 40%, coefficient of enteral absorption 30%, daily maintenance dose intravenously 1.1 mg and orally 3.7 mg.
