[Treatment of large laparoceles with non-reabsorbable prosthetic material (our experience)].

A series of 96 patients who underwent "eventration repair" using Mersilene-Mesh, according to Rives technique between jan 1983 and june 1988 is reported. The Authors stress the excellent results and the low cost of this method: there were no recurrences, postoperative complications were rare (18.7%) and their recover was complete, the patient was allowed to return to work earlier after easy and prompt convalescence.

[Volvulus of the transverse colon].

A case of transverse colon volvulus is described. The authors illustrate the procedures adopted for diagnosing the condition, which are mainly radiological consisting in plain film of the abdomen and barium enema, where necessary. The treatment is invariably surgical: detorsion of the volvulus and colopexy, and resection of the transverse colon in the presence of ischaemic lesions or right hemicolectomy.

[High-insertion choledochus].

A case of high-insertion choledochus is reported. The Authors, after a reviewing of the existing literature thereabout, describe the clinical and radiographic pictures whereby such lesion can appear. They emphasize the presence of this malformation requires particular attentions and changes in the surgical approach.

[Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in the adult. Presentation of 4 cases].

4 cases of hypertrophic stenosis of the pylorus, an infrequent benign disease often associated with gastro-duodenal lesions and characterized by narrowing and lengthening of the channel owing to hypertrophy-hyperplasia of the circular muscular fibres, are reported. Aetiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy, namely always gastric resection, are discussed.

[Phyllodes tumor of the breast (cystosarcoma phyllodes) (apropos 3 cases)].

There have been described three cases of the breast phyllodes tumour, i.e., fibroepithelial tumour, histologically both benign and on borderline, or expressively malignant (sarcoma). The mean age of patients concerned is of about 50 years old at the time of neoplasm diagnosis. If the surgical removal is incomplete, therein a large number of recurrences occurs. Diagnostic procedures are based on clinical examination (it is remarked the abnormal wideness of the tumour) as well as mammography, echography, needle biopsy. Surgical treatment is always based on large tumorectomy which results are sufficient in benign tumours. In malignant phylloides a total mastectomy is required without axillary lymphadenectomy owing to the hematic dissemination. Usually, after surgical treatment, survival rate seems better as compared to that of breast cancer.

[Rare locations of hydatidosis (a case with a mesocolic site)].

The AA. describe a case of hydatic cyst in mesosigmoid probably original, which dispose an occlusion of the bowels. They take a beginning by this case, for to offer a revision of the literature and for to debate about the way of installation in peripheric site of Echinococcus in larval stage.

[Angiosarcoma of the breast. Apropos of a case].

A case of angiosarcoma of the breast is described. This is an unusual, malignant, vascular tumour observed in young, fertile women. Its aetiopathogenesis, histological picture and pathological anatomy are described, and reference is made to the deceptively benign nature it often displays initially, its diagnosis, and its clinical picture. Emphasis is also placed on the limited possibilities of treatment, and its dependence on the earliest possible diagnosis for a certain degree of validity.
