Troubleshooting secrets you may want to try on your own.

I hope you can use one or two tools in this list to solve an issue you may be having right now, or one that comes up in the future. Please, please, please, do not try the more extensive (and potentially more troublesome) options unless you have a lot of experience working on computers or you are 100% certain you do not need any data that is on that computer. I don't like putting that warning in here, because the instructor in me wants you to learn, but not at the expense of losing all of your practice data. Have you tested your backup recently?

Remote access into your computer network.

In an effort to help summarize all of this information, let's break it down into 2 groups: dynamic IP and static IP. Static IP is simple--they all work well if you have an external static IP address. Now the fun part--dynamic IP. GoToMyPC, PCAnywhere, VNC (note: not secure), and RWW will all work with a dynamic IP address. So, what is the best solution for your dynamic IP scenario? My affirmative, steadfast answer is... it depends. It depends on your unique network, access requirements, cost, and willingness to use other tools to make the solution work effectively.

What is a 'normal' midwife?

When you look through job advertisements these days, there are many different titles for midwifery roles. From Consultant to Research & Development Midwife, breastfeeding specialist to Sure Start ... it makes me wonder what has happened to the 'normal' midwife. Last year (June 2001) we had a focus on Normal Birth--this time we are asking, what is a 'normal' midwife? What skills does she/he have? What does she/he do to keep things 'normal'? A clinical midwife, a researcher, an educationalist and a consumer give us their views.
