The phenomena surrounding the first sexual act are examined rather poorly from their psychosomatic side during investigation of human sexuality and reproductive behaviour. Frequency and character of the bleeding during defloration, experienced pain, a complex of fear due to pain and bleeding, motivation, evaluation and self-esteem of the behaviour, self-esteem on timeliness of the first sexual act, the attitude of the husband to defloration performed by other partner before marriage. Some of the obtained data are compared with similar data, obtained by analogous studies in some European countries. Inferences are made, which could be used by services, rendering consultative help to young women, candidates for marriage and their partners.
Object of the study were 100 women at fertile age, who informed retrogradely for events connected with disturbance of their virginity. It was established that defloration occurred not at exactly determined moment of the age of young women and girls, but at wider age interval from 16 to 20 years, during noon hours and at night, with equal probability during all seasons, excluding summer, when probability is twice as large, in various places: lodgings, in another's flats, during trips or youth brigades, duration of sexual prey is described, usage of alcohol, ect. An attempt is made to characterize the first partner and stability of the connection between partners, evolution of this connection, which is the background of defloration. The obtained data are compared with data on analogous studies in some other countries. The inferences are proposed as recommendations, which should be taken into consideration by parents, teachers and health services.
A review is made on data, described in the literature, in respect to frequency and significance of sexual abuse. In spite of the scarcity of data and discretion, with which the problem is surrounded, it could be determined that in some countries around 10 to 25% of women at mature age run a risk of sexual abuse. The forms are described, in which this violation of sexual freedom of the personality are manifested: abuse, combined abuse and "passive" form of sexual abuse (s refusal of sexual contact in family partners). Data are given on the characteristic of the abuser and his victims. Sexual abuse is connected with individual constitutional factors: character, biorhythms of sexual needs, physiological states leading to frigidity or impotence as well as socially determined factors: education, usage of alcohol, crimogenic environment, ect. In the end a review is made on the measures, which are taken in various countries in the struggle with sexual abuse: legal protection, institutions for recovery of victims of abuse, "hot telephone lines" social measures, etc.

After a brief review of the qualities of the new triphasic contraceptive preparation Trisistone and some of its advantages in comparison with the other combined contraceptive drugs the authors report on the results from the first study, carried out in our country, on the therapeutic effect of Trisistone. Thirty-eight women with various gynecological diseases were treated. The largest group was that of women with irregular bleedings. In this group the effect was not good in all women. It was found that Trisistone had limited possibilities to control irregular uterine bleedings, which most probably was connected with its comparatively low dose of steroid hormones. The side effects were comparatively slight and not quite frequently. The most frequent side effect was the occurrence of irregular bleeding in 9.5% of the treated women. The state without any side effects was improved in 30.1% of the patients. Best results were found in women with postcastration syndrome, hypoestrogenism and congenital anomalies in the development of ovaries--primary ovarian dysgenesis. Trisistone is especially suitable for substituted treatment in women with ovarian hormonal deficit.

A dynamic gamma-camera scintigraphy is proposed as a combined method, providing morphological and functional picture for the presence of eventual pathological changes in the region of ovaries. After detailed description of the method results from the examination of 45 women are presented: 35 suffered from diseases, involving adnexal region and 10--are controls. It is established that normal ovaries are visualized medially from the large iliac vessels as clear, ovally formed homogeneous cumulation of radionuclide. No such cumulation is observed after lack of ovarian parenchyma or after not well made perfusion. The method has serious advantages, when anomalies in the development of ovaries are search for as well as in diseases, changing form and size of the ovary (deformation, lack of homogeneity, ect.). A method is proposed for its advantage that it is not invasive, the examination is performed easily and is safe for patients.
The combination of a missing ovary and uterine tube on the one side (the syndrome of Slotnik-Goldfarb) with ipsilateral absence of the uterine horn is a rare anomaly, undescribed in our obstetric-gynecological literature. The difficulties in the diagnosis of this anomaly are connected with the necessity to use invasive methods for establishment of respective changes. The method was used in a woman, suffering from sterility, in connection with examining the possibilities of dynamic gamma-camera scintigraphy to discover ovarian parenchyma. Hysterosalpingography proved the presence of a hypoplastic uterine horn on the right side, an uterine tube on the same side (changed and nonpatent). Dysovulatory syndrome was established in this woman clinically. The performed scintigraphy confirmed the presence of ovarian parenchyma on the right side as well as a hypoplastic uterine horn and uterine tube and complete lack of accumulation of radionuclide on the left side, which suggested absence of ovarian parenchyma in the sideé in which the uterine horn and uterine tube were undeveloped as well. It is evaluated that the scintigraphic technique, described by the authors, could be used for establishment of such rare anomalies by noninvasive way.
The development of the medical obstetric-gynecological staff in the People's Republic of Bulgaria is characterized by a high rate of quantitative growth. Conversely worsening of the index of the relative part of obstetricians-gynecologists with acquired specialty is present; this index is reduced by almost 10% for the whole country during the recent two decades. Regional differences are established as the regions, located in the western part of the country, lag behind in training staff. An attempt is made to determine the factors, which cause the existing regional differences. Adequate measures are proposed to improve postgraduate qualification of medical staff for obstetric-gynecological services in the country during next years.

The study was carried out on 61 women with climacteric metropathy at mean age of 48,33 years. Histopathologic endometrial finding of the performed curettage showed predominating anovulatory or organic character of the bleeding. The mean values of oral glucose tolerance test in women of the whole group did not exceed the established reference values. However there was a reduced glucose tolerance as the values of the test were within range zone. This is an important fact in determining a model for hormonal prophylaxis and treatment.
After a brief review od the nature of disease, its clinical picture, the most frequent roentgenologic images manifested by roentgenologic examination (hysterography), the authors describe their own material. Prospective study was carried out in the course of one year. Twelve women with adenomyosis were discovered and confirmed roentgenologically and histologically (a postoperative preparation). The finding was of accidental character in 9 out of 12 women (75%) and no adenomyosis was taken into consideration. The investigation was performed by conventional method for hysterosalpingography in 10 out of 12 cases. A new technique--subfundic hysterography was used in the remaining two cases, in whom it was contraindicated. The roentgenologic image was characterized by depots located mainly on the fundus, asymmetrically, on the background of deformed uterine cavity (in the region of uterine horns). Two cases, presenting rather typical images, were reported. In the discussion attention was paid to the fact that the main clinical sign in the examined cases was irregular, repeating, long lasting genital bleeding, moderate increase of the uterus and characteristic roentgenologic picture. The histological results from curettages--trial and therapeutic on account of the bleedings, were of undetermined character and was of little help for exact establishment of diagnosis.
