The so-called idiopathic scrotal calcinosis does not appear to be idiopathic, but rather a process of dystrophic calcification of epidermal cysts. We report a case that would be otherwise called "idiopathic" where we found squamous epithelial lining around the calcified masses. Literature is reviewed in support of the view that the calcified scrotal nodules are related to epidermal cysts.
An unusual scrotal mass occurring in a 72-year-old man is described. Clinically and grossly, the lesion appeared to be a neoplasm. However, microscopically the mass was composed of fibromyxomatous tissue that appeared to be degenerative rather than neoplastic in nature.

Plasma cell granuloma (inflammatory pseudotumor) has been described most commonly in the lung. Review of the English literature fails to reveal occurrence of such a lesion in the tonsil. We are reporting such a case presenting as a unilateral tonsillar mass in a 63-year-old man. A more typical case of plasma cell granuloma of lung is also presented to illustrate the similarity between the tonsillar and pulmonary lesions.
A 62-year-old man developed a malignant melanoma in his left eye that had been blind due to trauma for 35 years. This case illustrates the difficulties in detection and early diagnosis of occult malignant melanoma of the uveal tract in phthistic globes. The necessity for long-term follow-up of posttraumatic eyes is stressed.
Four cases of prostatic carcinoma with metastasis to brain are described. Two of those cases are diagnosed antemortem. Our experience from postmortem case studies and review of the literature point to the fact that metastasis to brain from a prostatic cancer remains a rare occurrence.
A hemangioma of the urinary bladder occurring in a 66-year-old man is described. Although hemangioma is a common lesion in many parts of the body, it remains a very rare primary tumor in the bladder. Clinically the patient usually presents with recurrent hematuria, control of which may necessitate a segmental cystectomy.
A case of prostatic adenocarcinoma metastasizing to the epididymis is described, and the literature is reviewed.

A 70-year-old black man was found to have primary hyperparathyroidism due to an oxyphil cell adenoma. Ultrastructural studies were essential in elucidating the cell type of the tumor. The morphologic findings in relation to the clinical findings and a brief review of the literature are discussed.
Elective laminectomy cases do not need a routine order for typing and cross matching of blood. Data from the literature and from personal experience in the blood bank of a 580-bed general hospital are presented to support this conclusion. An ABO-Rh type and an antibody screen can safely substitute for routine cross matches for such cases. The use of type and screen rather than cross match allows the blood bank to distribute limited blood resources more efficiently without jeopardizing the patients.

An oat cell carcinoma occurring in the esophagus of a 59-year-old man is described. A review of another 22 cases of such a tumor from the English literature is made. These tumors may have three histologic patterns; pure oat cell carcinoma, oat cell carcinoma with squamous cell carcinoma, and oat cell carcinoma with adenocarcinoma. They appear to arise from enterochromaffin cells; the neoplastic cells show argyrophilia and neurosecretory-type granules on electron microscopy. Resection has been the principal mode of therapy. Overall survival for these patients is about 6 months, with most patients dying of extensive metastatic disease.
