CT scanning in epidural lymphoma.

This study describes the clinical features and CT findings in 18 patients with epidural lymphoma seen in a large oncology hospital over a four-year period. The variety of CT appearances seen in epidural lymphoma are illustrated. The importance of recognition of small volume epidural disease on body CT is stressed. Patients with apparently minor CT abnormalities may have significant epidural disease. The prognosis for these patients with minimal symptoms and small volume disease is much better than for those with classical signs of cord compression and more obvious abnormalities on imaging.

Digital subtraction cisternography: a new approach to fistula localisation in cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhoea.

Positive contrast cisternography with digital subtraction of fluoroscopy images before computed tomography (CT) was employed in the investigation of eight patients with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhoea. Fistulae were visualised by preliminary digital subtraction cisternography (DSC) in six patients and in five patients the sites of leakage were confirmed at surgery. Fluoroscopy facilitated interpretation of CT in all the positive studies and in two patients provided information which could not be deduced from CT cisternography (CTC) alone. The combined technique is recommended for the investigation of patients with recurrent and post operative CSF rhinorrhoea and when CTC alone fails to identify the site of leakage.

Radiology in the staging of bladder cancer.

Careful staging of bladder cancer at presentation is necessary for a rational choice of treatment and gives a clear indication of the long-term prognosis. In the past 20 years computer-based imaging technology has improved the precision of staging.
