[Contact urticaria due to rubber gloves].

Two patients had a case history suggesting contact urticaria to rubber gloves. This was confirmed by an open patch test which produced a wheal and flare reaction. As the gloves consisted of natural latex, scratch testing with natural latex, provided by the manufacturer, was also carried out. The scratch test produced a wheal and flare reaction, whereas scratch tests with natural latex in 20 control subjects produced no reaction.

[Formaldehyde contact allergy].

Several products used by housewives contain formic aldehyde as preservative: products for cleaning, washing, polishing furniture. Such products and products free from formic aldehyde are listed in order to achieve full prophylaxis in housewives with an allergic contact dermatitis from formic aldehyde.

[Fibrin depostition in granuloma anulare (author's transl)].

In 6 cases of granuloma anulare direct immunofluorescence studies were carried out with anti-fibrinogen and anti-immunoglobulin sera. Fibrin deposition was found in all lesions. The result is discussed with reference to local fibrinolysis.

[Allergen-specific immunoglobulin E in the serum (RAST), skin tests and mucosa provocation tests using house dust and house mite extract in rhinopathy and bronchial asthma].

Allergy against house dust and house dust mite was examined by RAST, skin and provocation test, with not identical allergen extracts. 50 patients with allergic rhinitis showed insufficient RAST results with house dust, better results for house dust mite. 65 patients with allergic asthma bronchiale presented satisfying results with house dust, good results with house dust mite. Recommendations are given for the application of RAST in the diagnosis of allergy.

[Granulomas of axillae (zirconium?) (author's transl)].

Deodorant preparations containing Zirconium may induce axillary granulomas of allergic origin. The case of a 49 years old female patient is presented, who developed axillary granulomas after having used a deodorant preparation containing Zirconium.

[DNA cytophotometry on cells of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (author's transl)].

Determination of DNA content was performed by Feulgen staining of tumour cell smears and DNA measurement with an integrating microdensitometer, In 3 cases of Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans there was a DNA distribution in the range of 2 c: only a few cells showed a DNA content in the range between 2 c and 4 c; no atypical DNA distribution curves were found. The rate of proliferation in these cases of Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is small, there are no cytophotometric indices for malignancy.
