Paget disease of the maxilla and mandible is not rare. There appears to be a significant correlation between skull involvement in the form of osteoporosis circumscripta and maxillofacial changes. The maxillary component can be of the typical form of Paget disease or be in the form of hypercementosis. The latter change is not well recognized and we present two cases with such involvement.

Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia or acute "malignant" myelosclerosis is an acute and rapidly progressive myeloproliferative syndrome characterized by minimal or absent splenomegaly, pancytopenia, diffuse marrow fibrosis, and circulating blasts of megakaryocytic origin. The disease must be differentiated from other hematologic malignancies especially myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia. The radiographic changes of osteosclerosis in our patient have not been previously reported in the literature.
Proximal spinal muscular atrophy (Kugelberg-Welander syndrome) is a degenerating disease of the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord with atrophy of the proximal muscles resembling muscular dystrophy. The patient in this report exhibits radiographic features in the gastrointestinal tract similar to those seen in the muscular dystrophies, including myotonic dystrophy.
Calcific retropharyngeal tendinitis is an inflammation of the longus colli muscle tendon which is located on the anterior surface of the vertebral column extending from the atlas to the third thoracic vertebra. The acute inflammatory condition is self-limiting with symptoms consisting of a gradually increasing neck pain often associated with throat pain and difficulty swallowing. The pain is aggravated by head and neck movement. Clinically the condition can be confused with retropharyngeal abscess, meningitis, infectious spondylitis, and post-traumatic muscle spasm. The radiographic features of this condition consist of pre-vertebral soft tissue swelling from C1 to C4 and amorphous calcific density in the longus colli tendon anterior to the body of C2 and inferior to the anterior arch of C1.
Small bowel bypass procedures for morbid obesity have been associated with many postoperative complications. With the use of the Scott procedure, the bypassed or excluded small bowel segment has recently been the focus of 2 syndromes -- "bypass enteritis' and "defunctioned bowel syndrome'. We describe these postoperative complications and present their significant radiologic features.

We report the 14th case of myelolipoma of the adrenal gland. Recommendations for appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic methods are made. Myelolipoma of the adrenal gland is a rare non-functioning tumor composed of lipoid and hematopoietic elements. The most consistent complaint is abdominal pain caused by hemorrhage within the tumor. We identified an association with obesity and hypertension. Ultrasound combined with computed tomography is useful in diagnosis. With expanded use of these studies, myelolipoma will be recognized more frequently. Definitive diagnosis and treatment are accomplished by simple excision; radical surgery is unnecessary.

Juvenile aponeurotic fibroma with radiographic soft-tissue calcification and osseous involvement was seen in a six-month-old boy. This tumor and other fibromatoses in infancy and childhood are reviewed.
Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging was used to evaluate the shoulders of 10 symptomatic professional baseball players and one asymptomatic player, with surgical correlation in six cases and arthrographic correlation in two cases. Seven small rotator cuff tears measuring 0.5-1 cm were identified on MR images, with arthrographic and surgical confirmation of these findings in two patients and surgical confirmation only in three patients. Cortical irregularity and/or subchondral cyst formation at the posterior aspect of the greater tuberosity near the insertion site of the infraspinatus tendon was found in five of the seven players with rotator cuff tears. Similar findings were noted in the asymptomatic volunteer and in one of the three players without cuff tear, who also had irregular thickening of the posterior capsule. These findings are believed to represent chronic avulsive changes resulting from the deceleration stresses of the follow-through motion.
