Six methods of measuring limb length inequality have been described, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Scanography is current practice in our department, but the choice is obviously dependent on local conditions. It is an area both in orthopaedic and radiological circles that has been largely ignored in the recent past. This article is an attempt to place the art of measuring limb length inequality firmly back on the map.
