The objective of the paper is to review results of classical surgery of acute ischaemia of the gut in 32 patients in a retrospective study. The mortality of 72% does not differ from data of other authors. The author emphasizes early diagnosis. The perspective is to make use of modern non-invasive diagnosis and and apply intervention radiology and mini-invasive surgery in treatment.
The objective of the work was to verify in common clinical practice the advantages and disadvantages of surgery of the carotid arteries under general or regional anaesthesia and the possibility of selective use of a carotid shunt. Epidural cervical block appears to be a useful alternative of general anaesthesia, for the patient as well as the surgeon. It makes it possible to select, if desired, a carotid shunt which is an advantage from several aspects.
The authors describe three cases of rare fibrotizing mesenteritis in adult patients. In two the aetiological agent was not detected, in the third one it was obviously talcum powder. The disease was manifested as acute abdomen or was detected accidentally. Compression of the visceral vessels caused the development of ischaemic foci with intestinal fistulae. Surgical treatment failed.
The author analyzes 33 cases of malignant tumours of the gallbladder in the course of 10 years from the diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic aspect with regard to possibilities of type II hospitals.
