Sterilization by oviduct occlusion with plastic mono-construction clips was carried out on a series of 21 doe-rabbits; effective sterilization resulted. Subsequent oviduct re-anastomosis over nylon splints resulted in 58% restoration of fertility as proven by term pregnancies. There were no complications attributable to the clip application.
A simple macrosurgical technique developed by the writer in 1974, and used specifically for the reversal of sterilization by tubal anastomosis, is presented. The technique has been employed where facilities have been no more sophisticated than those used for the original sterilization. In terms of intrauterine pregnancy, a success rate of 43% has been achieved from a series of 14 unselected patients who requested tubal reconstruction after sterilization. A plea is made for the employment of sterilizing techniques which cause minimal tubal damage, and thereby allow the greatest likelihood of success with any future reconstructive procedure.
Preselective sex determination in ten consecutive pregnancies has been achieved by means of strict control over timing and technique of coitus which was combined with acidic or alkaline douching. Eight female and two male babies were born.
