Studies on the fluorescence reaction between nucleic acid and the complex of cobalt(II) with 5-(3-fluoro-4-chlorophenylazo)-8-sulfonamidoquinoline and its applications.

Based on the enhancement of the fluorescence intensity of the complex of 5-(3-fluoro-4-chlorophenylazo)-8-sulfonamidoquinoline (FCPBSQ) with Co(2+) by nucleic acid in the presence of Tween 80 and in the weakly basic medium, a fluorescence method for the determination of nucleic acid was proposed. The calibration graphs for the determination of denatured calf thymus DNA (ct DNA), fish sperm DNA (fs DNA), and yeast RNA (yt RNA) were obtained in concentration ranges 0.050-4.0, 0.10-3.0, and 0.050-3.0 microg/ml with limits of detection of 0.010, 0.030, and 0.020 microg/ml, respectively. The method has been satisfactorily used for the determination of DNA in wheat cell extraction and ct DNA, fs DNA, and yt RNA in synthetic samples. Investigations on the binding mode by the Scatchard plots method suggested that both intercalation and electrostatic binding modes existed in this system.

Defective glomerulogenesis in the absence of laminin alpha5 demonstrates a developmental role for the kidney glomerular basement membrane.

Laminins are major components of all basement membranes. They are a diverse group of alpha/beta/gamma heterotrimers formed from five alpha, three beta, and three gamma chains. Laminin alpha5 is a widely expressed chain found in many embryonic and adult basement membranes. During embryogenesis, alpha5 has a role in disparate developmental processes, including neural tube closure, digit septation, and placentation. Here, we analyzed kidney development in Lama5 mutant embryos and found a striking defect in glomerulogenesis associated with an abnormal glomerular basement membrane (GBM). This correlates with failure of the developmental switch in laminin alpha chain deposition in which alpha5 replaces alpha1 in the GBM at the capillary loop stage of glomerulogenesis. In the absence of a normal GBM, glomerular epithelial cells were in disarray, and endothelial and mesangial cells were extruded from within the constricting glomerulus, leading to a complete absence of vascularized glomeruli. In addition, a minority of Lama5 mutant mice lacked one or both kidneys, indicating that laminin alpha5 is also important in earlier kidney development. Our results demonstrate a dual role for laminin alpha5 in kidney development, illustrate a novel defect in glomerulogenesis, and indicate a heretofore unappreciated developmental role for the GBM in influencing the behavior of epithelial and endothelial cells.

Inhibition of distal lung morphogenesis in Nkx2.1(-/-) embryos.

In vitro and in vivo results are consistent with a critical role for NKX2.1, an epithelial homeodomain transcription factor in lung morphogenesis. Nkx2.1 null mutant embryos die at birth due to respiratory insufficiency caused by profoundly abnormal lungs. However, the precise role of NKX2.1 in the multistep process of lung structural morphogenesis and differentiation of various pulmonary cell types remains unknown. In the current study, we tested the hypothesis that the mutant lungs do not undergo branching morphogenesis beyond the formation of the mainstem bronchi and therefore consist solely of dilated tracheobronchial structures. To test this hypothesis, we determined the spatial and temporal expression pattern of a number of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins and their cellular receptors, including alpha-integrins, laminin, and collagen type IV. Although laminin is expressed in the mutant Nkx2.1(-/-) lungs, expression of alpha-integrins and collagen type IV is significantly reduced or absent. In addition, examination of regionally specific expression of differentially spliced Vegf (vascular endothelial growth factor) transcripts, clearly indicates that the epithelial phenotype of the Nkx2.1(-/-) lungs is similar to the tracheobronchial epithelium. In contrast to wild-type lungs in which both Vegf1 and Vegf3 are developmentally expressed, Nkx2.1(-/-) lungs are characterized by predominant expression of Vegf1 and reduced or absent Vegf3. A similar pattern of Vegf expression is also observed in isolated tracheo-bronchial tissue. The sum of these findings suggest that at least two separate pathways may exist in embryonic lung morphogenesis: proximal lung morphogenesis is Nkx2.1 independent, while distal lung morphogenesis appears to be strictly dependent on the wild-type activity of Nkx2.1.

Mechanisms of inhibition of carcinogenesis by tea.

Tea (Camellia sinensis) preparations have been shown to inhibit tumorigenesis at the initiation, promotion, and progression stages in different animal models. The anti-proliferative effects of tea polyphenols may be a key mechanism, especially in the NNK-induced lung tumorigenesis model with mice. Studies with cell lines have demonstrated that tea polyphenols inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis. The effective concentrations used in these studies (20-100 microM) are usually higher than those observed in blood and tissues of humans and animals, which are in the low micromolar range. Glucuronide and sulfate conjugated and methylated catechins as well as ring fission products (due to intestinal microflora) have been observed in human plasma and urine. Purified green and black tea polyphenols inhibited the H-ras induced milogen-activated protein kinases, AP-1 activities, and the growth of 30.7b Ras 12 and BES21 cells. Among the catechins, both the galloyl structure on the B ring and the gallate moiety are important for the inhibition. Both (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate and theaflavin-3,3'-digallate inhibited the phosphorylation of c-jun and p44/42 (ERK 1/2). More mechanistic and human studies in these areas will help us to understand the possible inhibitory action of tea against carcinogenesis in humans.

Instruction Effect and Developmental Levels: A Study on Water-Level Task with Chinese Children Ages 9-17.

This study investigated the effectiveness of instruction on spatial skills. It examined the effect of instruction of liquid horizontality on the performance on Piagetian Water Level Task (WLT) from a developmental perspective through two substudies. In Study 1, the WLT was administered to 256 boys and 230 girls of ages 9, 10, 12, 14, and 17 from Beijing, China, before and after instruction. The results indicate that the instruction effect was significant for the 6th (p <.05) and 8th graders (p <.001) but not for the 4th, 5th, and 11th graders. Study 2 examined instruction effect in contrast with practice effect. Participants were 69 boys and 52 girls of ages 9-14 from Beijing, China. The results indicate that children improve more on the WLT with the combination of instruction and practice than with practice alone (p <.01). The findings depict a relationship between cognitive development and instruction effect on the WLT. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.

Several log increase in therapeutic transgene delivery by distinct adeno-associated viral serotype vectors.

We previously demonstrated that rAAV vectors carrying human and canine factor IX (FIX) cDNA can infect, stably persist, and secrete functional human and canine FIX following direct intramuscular injection. In an attempt to improve FIX protein secretion for eventual therapeutic use, we set out to determine if alteration of the AAV capsid would affect skeletal muscle transduction and factor IX secretion. Two reasons to pursue this question were (1) the persistence of high-titer neutralizing antibody (NAB) to AAV2 and (2) our previous study that supported a restricted tropism of muscle fiber types to AAV2 transduction. Using an identical CMV/canine factor IX (cFIX) expression cassette, we cross-packaged this genome into virions generated from each of the five AAV serotypes. In a dose-response assay, equivalent amounts of rAAV/cFIX serotypes were tested in vitro and in vivo. In tissue culture cells, FIX antigen levels secreted into the supernatant varied depending on the AAV serotype used; type 2 transduced maximally, with serotypes 3, 1, 5, and 4, respectively, expressing lower levels. However, when the same viruses were tested in vivo using immunodeficient NOD/SCID animals, we obtained surprisingly different results. While the time to onset of detectable serum levels appeared the same for all serotypes, types 1, 3, and 5 produced 100- to 1000-fold more cFIX than type 2. In fact, 12 weeks after transduction, type 1 continued to express levels of cFIX on average at 80 microg/ml followed by type 5 (6.52 microg/ml), type 3 (3.27 microg/ml), type 4 (258 ng/ml), and finally type 2 (90 ng/ml). Coagulant activity of cFIX as measured by aPTT supported the circulating levels measured by ELISA demonstrating the secreted protein was functional, and RT-PCR of injected tissue correlated with the serotype-specific transduction data. In summary, we found significant differences in cFIX expression upon introducing various rAAV serotypes into mouse muscle. These data have direct bearing on the design of AAV gene therapy clinical trials for hemophilia and should also extend to most therapeutic transgenes.

Protective effects of radix astragali against anoxic damages to in vitro cultured neurons.

To study the protective effects of radix astragali against anoxic damages to in vitro cultured neurons in rats, NaCN was used to develop a hypoxic model of in vitro cultured neurons from newborn rat cerebral cortex. The cellular morphology, A value (cell survival number) and effluxes of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and K+ from cells were measured in the radix astragali group and the control group respectively. After 48 h of anoxia, A value was decreased from 0.325 +/- 0.031 before anoxia to 0.145 +/- 0.011, the effluxes of LDH and K+ were increased from 65.80 +/- 2.90 U/L and 5. 23 +/- 0.11 mmol/L before anoxia to 148.80 +/- 8.40 U/L and 7.31 +/- 0.18 mmol/L, respectively. It was found that in the anoxic circumstance in the Radix astragali group, the mophological changes were mild, the effluxes of LDH and K+ were decreased and A value increased as compared with those in the control group. It was suggested that Radix astragali could protect the cultured rat neurons against anoxic damages in the anoxic circumstance.

Study of the adsorption behavior of heavy metal ions on nanometer-size titanium dioxide with ICP-AES.

A new method using nanoparticle TiO2 as solid-phase extractant coupled with ICP-AES was proposed for simultaneous determination of trace elements. The adsorption behavior of nanometer TiO2 towards Cu, Cr, Mn and Ni was investigated by ICP-AES, and the adsorption pH curves, adsorption isotherms and adsorption capacities were obtained. It was found that the adsorption rates of the metal ions studied were more than 90% in pH 8.0-9.0, and 2.0 mol L-1 HCl was sufficient for complete elution. Nanometer TiO2 possesses a significant capacity for the sorption of the metal ions studied which is higher than the capacity of silica, the commonly used extractant. The method has been applied to the analysis of some environmental samples with satisfactory results.

Biodistribution of paclitaxel and poly(L-glutamic acid)-paclitaxel conjugate in mice with ovarian OCa-1 tumor.

PURPOSE: Poly(L-glutamic acid)-paclitaxel (PG-TXL) is a water-soluble paclitaxel (TXL) conjugate made by conjugating TXL to poly(L-glutamic acid) via ester bonds. In preclinical studies, PG-TXL has shown significant antitumor activity against a variety of solid tumors. To elucidate the relationship between tissue distribution and antitumor efficacy of PG-TXL, we studied and compared the biodistribution of PG-TXL and TXL. METHODS: Female C3Hf/Kam mice bearing syngeneic ovarian OCa-1 tumors were injected with either [3H]TXL or PG-[3H]TXL at an equivalent TXL dose of 20 mg/kg. Mice were killed at various times after drug injection, and samples of blood, spleen, liver, kidney, lung, heart, muscle, brain, fat, and tumor were removed and the radioactivity counted. In addition, concentrations of free [3H]TXL released from PG-[3H]TXL in the spleen, liver, kidney, and tumor were analyzed by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Whole-body autoradiographs of mice killed 1 day and 6 days after administration of PG-[3H]TXL were obtained to study the intratumoral distribution of PG-TXL. RESULTS: When [3H]TXL was conjugated to polymer, the biodistribution pattern of PG-[3H]TXL differed from that of [3H]TXL. Based on area under the tissue concentration-time curve (AUC) values, tumor exposure to [3H]TXL was five times greater when administered as PG-TXL than as TXL formulated in Cremophor EL/alcohol vehicle. Furthermore, concentrations of free paclitaxel released from PG-[3H]TXL remained relatively constant in tumor tissue, being 489, 949 and 552 ng/g tumor tissue at 5, 48 and 144 h after dosing, respectively. Autoradiographic images of mice injected with PG-[3H]TXL revealed that radioactivity was primarily located in the periphery of the tumor on day 1 after drug administration and was homogeneously diffused into the center of the tumor by day 6. Over the 144-h study period, [3H]TXL concentrations, predominantly as the inactive conjugate, were higher in tissues with a more abundant reticular endothelial system (i.e. liver, kidney, spleen, lung) than in tissues with less abundant or lacking RE systems (i.e. muscle, fat, brain). Both [3H]TXL and PG-[3H]TXL were excreted primarily through the hepatobiliary route, with a small fraction of each drug (5% and 8.7%, respectively) excreted into the urine within 48 h. CONCLUSIONS: This study indicates that the distribution to tumor tissue was enhanced when [3H]TXL was administered as a macromolecular conjugate, and that free TXL was released and maintained within the tumor for a prolonged period. Thus, the antitumor activity of PG-TXL observed in preclinical studies may be attributed in part to enhanced tumor uptake of PG-TXL.

A de novo glycine substitution mutation in the collagenous domain of COL7A1 in dominant dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa.

Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is a hereditary mechanobullous disorder characterized by fragility of the skin and mucous membrane due to abnormalities of anchoring fibrils. Both dominant and recessive DEB have been shown to be caused by mutations in COL7A1, the gene encoding type VII collagen which is the major component of anchoring fibrils. De novo mutation in dominant DEB is rare. In this study, we report a novel de novo glycine substitution mutation in COL7A1 in a Chinese female patient presenting with mild DEB. In search of the mutation, we scanned the entire COL7A1 using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of all exons of COL7A1, followed by heteroduplex analysis and direct sequencing of the PCR products that exhibited heteroduplex pattern. A G-to-A transition at nucleotide position 6082 within exon 73 of COL7Al was detected. The mutation converted a glycine to an arginine (G2028R) within the triple-helical domain of type VII collagen. It was confirmed that the mutation was present only in the proband. Haplotype analyses suggested that the case arose as a de novo occurrence of autosomal dominant DEB.

Identification of the spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 mutation in Taiwan: application of PCR-based Southern blot.

Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) type 7 is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by neural loss, mainly in the cerebellum and regions of the brainstem and particularly the inferior olivary complex. This neurodegeneration disease is associated with expansion of unstable CAG repeats within the 5'-translated region of the SCA7 gene, located on chromosome 3p. We conducted a local survey of the normal population and candidate patients for the analysis of the CAG repeats in the SCA7 gene. The distributions of the CAG repeat units of SCA7 gene in the normal population in Taiwan were established in this study by using the radioactive genomic polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The normal range of CAG repeats is from 6 to 17 repeats, with the more common being around 8-13 repeats. The range is narrower than that reported for other ethnic groups (7-35 CAGs). Meanwhile, by the use of a combination of PCR and Southern blot analysis, one SCA7 family was identified and is reported here. A marked instability of the CAG repeat number during transmission from father to son (41 vs. 100) was observed in the SCA7 family. Clinical anticipation is significant in this family including an infantile case, who was found to have nystagmus from the age of 1 month. To date, the SCA7 mutation has been detected in one of 73 families with autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia phenotypes, which is about 1.4% of the ataxia families referred to us, compared to 1.4% SCA1, 9.6% SCA2, and 27.3% SCA3/Machado-Joseph disease in our collection. In addition, we demonstrate that the PCR-based Southern blot analysis, with the advantages of sensitivity of PCR and specificity of Southern blot, is a reliable diagnostic method for SCA7 mutation screening. The molecular analysis technique makes possible the quick and accurate diagnosis of SCA7 patients and in the future will hopefully be applied to prenatal screening for SCA7 families.

Rapid development of vein graft atheroma in ApoE-deficient mice.

Several animal models manifesting lesions resembling neointimal hyperplasia of human vein grafts have been developed, but no spontaneous atheromatous lesions in their vein grafts have been observed. We developed and here characterize a new animal model of vein graft atheroma, a maturated atherosclerotic plaque, in apoE-deficient mice. The lesion displayed classical complex morphological features and heterogeneous cellular compositions and consisted of a fibrous cap, infiltrated mononuclear cells, foam cells, cholesterol crystal structure, necrotic core with calcification, and neovasculature. Cell component analysis revealed smooth muscle cells (SMCs) localized in the cap region, macrophages which made up a large portion of the lesions, and CD4+ T cells scattered under the cap. Importantly, apoptotic/necrotic cells determined by TUNEL assay in vein grafts into apoE-/- mice were significantly higher than wild-type mice, although a similar number of proliferating cell nuclear antigen-positive cells in both types of lesions was found. Interestingly, vascular SMCs cultivated from aortas of apoE-deficient mice showed a high rate of spontaneous apoptosis/necrosis and a higher rate of cell death stimulated by a nitric oxide donor, sodium nitroprusside, H(2)O(2), and oxidized low density lipoprotein (LDL), although no difference in proliferation of both SMCs incubated with platelet-derived growth factor, angiotensin II, LDL, and oxidized LDL was seen. Thus, the pathogenic mechanisms of vein graft atheroma involve increased intimal cell death initiated by biomechanical stress and amplified by hypercholesterolemia, which leads to continuous recruitment of blood mononuclear cells to constitute atheromatous lesions. This mouse model resembling human vein graft disease has many advantages over other animal models.

Mechanical stress-initiated signal transductions in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Mechanical force is an important modulator of cellular morphology and function in a variety of tissues, and is particularly important in cardiovascular systems. Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) hypertrophy and proliferation contribute to the development of atherosclerosis, hypertension, and restenosis, where mechanical forces are largely disturbed. How VSMCs sense and transduce the extracellular mechanical signals into the cell nucleus resulting in quantitative and qualitative changes in gene expression is an interesting and important research field. Recently, it has been demonstrated that mechanical stress rapidly induced phosphorylation of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor, activation of integrin receptor, stretch-activated cation channels, and G proteins, which might serve as mechanosensors. Once mechanical force is sensed, protein kinase C and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) were activated, leading to increased c-fos and c-jun gene expression and enhanced transcription factor AP-1 DNA-binding activity. Interestingly, physical forces also rapidly resulted in expression of MAPK phosphatase-1 (MKP-1), which inactivates MAPKs. Thus, mechanical stresses can directly stretch the cell membrane and alter receptor or G protein conformation, thereby initiating signalling pathways, usually used by growth factors. These findings have significantly enhanced our knowledge of the pathogenesis of arteriosclerosis and provided promising information for therapeutic interventions for vascular diseases.

Repulsive axon guidance molecule Sema3A inhibits branching morphogenesis of fetal mouse lung.

Semaphorin III/collapsin-1 (Sema3A) guides a specific subset of neuronal growth cones as a repulsive molecule. In this study, we have investigated a possible role of non-neuronal Sema3A in lung morphogenesis. Expression of mRNAs of Sema3A and neuropilin-1 (NP-1), a Sema3A receptor, was detected in fetal and adult lungs. Sema3A-immunoreactive cells were found in airway and alveolar epithelial cells of the fetal and adult lungs. Immunoreactivity for NP-1 was seen in fetal and adult alveolar epithelial cells as well as endothelial cells. Immunoreactivity of collapsin response mediator protein CRMP (CRMP-2), an intracellular protein mediating Sema3A signaling, was localized in alveolar epithelial cells, nerve tissue and airway neuroendocrine cells. The expression of CRMP-2 increased during the fetal, neonate and adult periods, and this pattern paralleled that of NP-1. In a two-day culture of lung explants from fetal mouse lung (E11.5), with exogenous Sema3A at a dose comparable to that which induces growth cone collapse of dorsal root ganglia neurons, the number of terminal buds was reduced in a dose-dependent manner when compared with control or untreated lung explants. This decrease was not accompanied with any alteration of the bromodeoxyuridine-positive DNA-synthesizing fraction. A soluble NP-1 lacking the transmembrane and intracellular region, neutralized the inhibitory effect of Sema3A. The fetal lung explants from neuropilin-1 homozygous null mice grew normally in vitro regardless of Sema3A treatment. These results provide evidence that Sema3A inhibits branching morphogenesis in lung bud organ cultures via NP-1 as a receptor or a component of a possible multimeric Sema3A receptor complex.

Relation between In ion ordering and crystal structure variation in homologous compounds InMO3(ZnO)m (M = Al and In; m = integer)

The relation between the ordering of In ions and the structure variation of homologous compounds InInO3(ZnO)13 and InAlO3(ZnO)m (m = 4, 5, and 13) have been studied by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. It is revealed that InMO3(ZnO)m is a layered structure, consisting of InO2(1-) (In-O) and MZn(m)Om+1(1+) (M/Zn-O) layers stacked alternatively. Structure variations from the basic one, caused by the ordering of In ions in the M/Zn-O layers, are observed both in In2O3(ZnO)m and InAlO3(ZnO)m. In In2O3(ZnO)m, a modulated structure appearing as zig-zag shaped contrast in the high-resolution image was found and is considered to be caused by the ordering of In ions along the zig-zag contrast area. In InAlO3(ZnO)m, no modulated structure was found. Instead, planar defect structures appearing in Al/Zn-O layers were observed. It is shown that this defect structure is caused by the excess introduction of In ions into the Al/Zn-O layers and the ordering of these In ions. By comparing the results of InInO3(ZnO)m and InAlO3(ZnO)m, it is shown that the reasons for the In ion ordering is the discrepancy between the larger In ion size and the smaller oxygen void for M/Zn ions in M/Zn-O layers.

The Trypanosoma cruzi genome contains ion motive ATPase genes which closely resemble Leishmania proton pumps.

DNA fragments homologous to members of the family of P-type ion-motive ATPases were identified in Trypanosoma cruzi by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification. The sequence of one fragment, which closely resembled (87% identity) the tandemly linked proton pumps in Leishmania, was used to characterize the H(+)-ATPase genes in T. cruzi. The T. cruzi proton pump locus contains four tandemly repeated genes (TCH1-4) separated by 1.1 kb intergenic regions. The nucleotide sequence of one cloned gene of the tandem array contains a 2775 nt open reading frame encoding a predicted 101908-Da protein of 925 amino acids. The TCH genes are expressed as 3.8 and 4.9 kb polyadenylated transcripts in the epimastigote stage; expression of both transcripts is reduced in metacyclic trypomastigotes. Results of 5' and 3' RACE transcript mapping indicate that the 3.8 kb message is generated from within the tandemly repeated locus. The 3.8 kb TCH transcript has the T. cruzi mini-exon appended to a short (40 nt) 5' untranslated region (UTR) and has a 927 nt 3' UTR. The full peptide sequence of the T. cruzi proton pump is 80% identical to the Leishmania pump but lacks the extended carboxyl tail present in the Leishmania ATPase. An antibody that recognizes the 110-kDa Leishmania donovani proton pump cross-reacts with a 100-kDa protein in lysates of T. cruzi epimastigotes.

Mutations in helix 27 of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae 18S rRNA affect the function of the decoding center of the ribosome.

A dynamic structural rearrangement in the phylogenetically conserved helix 27 of Escherichia coli 16S rRNA has been proposed to directly affect the accuracy of translational decoding by switching between "accurate" and "error-prone" conformations. To examine the function of helix 27 in eukaryotes, random and site-specific mutations in helix 27 of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae 18S rRNA have been characterized. Mutations at positions of yeast 18S rRNA corresponding to E. coli 886 (rdn8), 888 (rdn6), and 912 (rdn4) increased translational accuracy in vivo and in vitro, and caused a reduction in tRNA binding to the A-site of mutant ribosomes. The double rdn4rdn6 mutation separated the killing and stop-codon readthrough effects of the aminoglycoside antibiotic, paromomycin, implicating a direct involvement of yeast helix 27 in accurate recognition of codons by tRNA or release factor eRF1. Although our data in yeast does not support a conformational switch model analogous to that proposed for helix 27 of E. coli 16S rRNA, it strongly suggests a functional conservation of this region in tRNA selection.

Evaluation of the antioxidant and pro-oxidant effects of tea catechin oxypolymers.

Tea catechin oxypolymers (TCOP) were prepared by oxidizing tea catechin (TC, the content of EGCG was >85%) with H2O2. Their antioxidant and pro-oxidant effects were tested using a deoxyribose assay, a photoreduction of NBT assay, a lipoxygenase assay, a POV assay, and animal tests. The scavenging effects of TCOP to both the hydroxyl radical and superoxide radical were stronger than that of TC, and also they had no pro-oxidant effect; the rate constant for reactions of TC and TCOP for hydroxyl radical were 1.0 x 10(10) and (1.4-2.8) x 10(10) M(-1) x S(-1), respectively. TCOP can inhibit lipid peroxidation and lipoxygenase effectively, and it also can activate red cell SOD and reduce the MDA content in serum of mice very significantly. These results suggested that the antioxidant activity of TCOP was not less than or even more notable than that of TC.
