[Diarrhea and recurrent vomiting of fecal matter in a 56-year-old patient].

A gastro-jejuno-colic fistula detected by upper gastric contrast-radiography was the cause of severe diarrhea, miserere and weight loss. It had developed after gastro-jejunal anastomosis. Surgical correlation was achieved by a single intervention, possible because of preoperative care and modern suture technology.

Colonic Diseases

[Venous thrombosis in central venous catheterization: incidence and promoting factors].

The frequency of venous thrombosis during central vein catheterization was prospectively studied in a group of 51 patients (53 catheterizations) during a 10-month period. 12 catheterizations (23%) resulted in thrombosis as revealed by phlebography. Of these, 11 were due to catheters whose site of entry was the upper limb. No other favoring factors (osmolality of the infused fluids, length or catheterization etc.) were detected. Ideally, to avoid thrombosis, central venous catheters should be inserted via the jugular or the subclavian vein, while bearing in mind that these other routes are not devoid of complications either.

Adolescent

[The intravenous urography with rapid sequence films of the early arterial phase (author's transl)].

The intravenous urography alone as a screening-test in renal and renovascular hypertension does not give the expected results. A technique is described how to improve and enlarge the sensitivity of the intravenous urography by rapid sequence films of the early arterial phase. By the opacification of the aorta and the renal arteries it is possible to detect a renovascular hypertension. Hexabrix is a well tolerated contrast medium, which because of its low osmolality is suitable for injection as a bolus.
