Delusions of infestation treated by pimozide: a double-blind crossover clinical study.
Eleven patients with delusions of infestation were treated with pimozide using a double-blind crossover technique. Ten out of 11 patients improved. The investigation showed significant relief of itch and delusions during pimozide treatment. Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) points decreased significantly. Adverse effects were few by 2 patients showed dose-related depressive reactions during treatment. Pimozide treatment of patients with delusions of infestation should be entrusted to dermatologists, because these patients with delusions differ from most patients attending psychiatric clinics in that they have a monosymptomatic hypochondriacal psychosis.
[Chronic hypervitaminosis A with skin changes].
A case of hypervitaminosis A in a 43-year-old woman is presented. The patient had only dermatologic symptoms. The dermatitis had resemblance to contact dermatitis or pellagra. The patient had been eating 100,000 I.U. of vitamin A daily every 2 months for approximately 15 months. The dermatitis disappeared slowly after stopping the intake of vitamin A.

Rehabilitation in hand eczema.
The difference between medical and social prognosis in hand eczema is stressed. Rehabilitation may be a fashionable word, but a change of job may result in a lower social standing and the eczema may persist. Job change should never be considered unless extensive patch testing has been performed. The decision also depends on age, nature of allergen, actual trade and occupation, a personal history of atopy and some personal factors. Some guidelines are given.
