Risk factors and survival prognosis in men younger than 40 years and men older than 60 years with myocardial infarction. (Retrospective clinico-epidemiological study).

In a clinico-epidemiological retrospective study there were examined 300 men younger than 40 years and 300 men older than 60 years with clinically or histologically diagnosed myocardial infarction (by WHO criteria). The study has confirmed that clinically unequivocal myocardial infarction in men younger than 40 years is significantly frequently connected with the presence of the following main risk factors: 1. Myocardial infarction or sudden death in next-of-kin aged less than 60 years.--2. Excessive cigarette smoking (greater than 20 cigarettes daily).--3. Hypercholesterolaemia (greater than 260 mg/100 ml, hypertriglyceridaemia (greater than 200 mg/100 ml), and hyperuricaemia (greater than 7 mg/100 ml). The time elapsed between the manifestation of the coronary accident and calling for medical aid was longer in the group of men older than 60 years. After 5 years the proportion of surviving patients was significantly higher in the younger group.

Some risk factors in pathologic aging.

A clinico-epidemiologic prevalence survey was conducted in the sub-mountainous area of Northern Bohemia, which is distinguished by the highest proportion of aged people in Bohemian countries. It involved 6057 persons of the 70-79 age group, 1718 persons of the 80-89 age group and 139 persons of the 90+ group, plus control subjects in various other groups. In this study an attempt was made to find an effective measure of the presumed risk factors of pathologic aging in persons of the 70-105 age group. The data were analyzed by the method of coincidence of two parameters of binomial decomposition on the computer Odra. The quantity dependence of the signs was determined, and an index of the compound-risk factor of pathologic aging was calculated. When the numerical value of the index is lower than 56.9 +/- 4.36 for a group of males or 50.3 +/- 3.55 for a group of females, the probability is that a given person in those groups will survive to an advanced age. The total risk is higher for the male sex. Of considerable importance are the genetic burden, external environmental causes, harmful habits, certain "civilization" diseases, and other factors such as disturbed social contacts and defective nutrition.

[Importance of space analysis of U-moment-vectors concerning ageing people and chronical heart and blood circulation diseases (author's transl)].

U-vectors are a stabil component of electric activity of the heart repolarisation. The examinations of the space sizes and direction of the U-moment-vectors give an idea about the character of repolarisation of Purkinje's fibres and papillar muscles in old age and in chronical heart and blood circulation diseases. Pathological alteration of the U-vectors appear sooner and are more explicit than the T-vectors.

[Combined treatment with beta-receptor blocker pindolol and diureticum trichlormethiazidum in patients with essential hypertony in stadium II WHO (author's transl))].

A double blind study was performed concerning effects and endurance of a combined therapy with beta-receptor blocker Pindolol (LB 46 Visken Sandoz/2 X 2 tabletes per 5 mg daily and Trichlormethiazidum Eurinol Spofa 3-dicholor-methyl-6-chlor-7-sulfamoyl 3,4-dihydro-1,2, 4-benzothiadiazin-1, 1-dyoxydum) 1 X1 tablet per 4 mg daily in 74 patients with essential hypertony in stadium II WHO. Reduction of the systolic as well as the diastolic blood pressure was already highly significant after the first two weeks of treatment (p less than 0.05). Heart frequency dropped from the average of 86,6 +/-8,6 per minute to 74 +/-16.8 per minute. All patients endured the medication very well.

[Successes in novocain therapy in the control of premature ageing (author's transl)].

A group of 173 patients with the diagnosis of systemic arteriosclerosis received a treatment with Novocain, according to the following schedule: three times a week intramusculary injections of 2% procain 5ml, that means 12 injections a month in 3--5 series. The results were very encouraging in 46% of the treated patients, in 28% a slight improvement was obtained while in 26% the state was unchanged but not worse. The treatment with Gerovital H3 according to A. Aslans method gave very good results in the treatment of diseases like: heart ischemia, systemic arteriosclerosis, predominant cerebral arteriosclerosis, arteriosclerotic Parkinsons disease; obvious results were also obtained in the treatment of psychical disturbances related to arteriosclerosis. The comparison with the control group (patients with placebo) emphasized the good results of the treatment of Aslan: Gerovital H3.
