Thirty-seven patients with facial full-deep burn and burn scar contructure were treated in our department. The operation included transplantation, of whole piece of full thickness skin (3 patients), transplantation of whole piece of full thickness skin with subdermal vascular rete a (1), transplantation of improved whole piece of full thickness skin (26), and separated transplantation of large piece of partial thickness skin (7). Follow-up from 3 to 15 years showed that the facial skin of whole piece of full thickness skin was soft, smooth, and had natural facial expression. The facial skin of separated transplantation had slight scar and pigmentation. The improved whole piece of full thickness skin was recommendable for avoiding the secondary ectropion of eyelid and lip.

A controlled multi-centre clinical trial was conducted for evaluating the efficacy and safety of cisapride in the treatment of 414 cases of functional dyspepsia with 169 cases as control. Cisapride were given 5mg three times daily for 4 weeks. The results showed that cisapride could significantly improve the symptoms including early satiety, abdominal distention, epigastric pain and nausea. Total efficacy rate of cisapride and placebo were 92.99% and 41.42% respectively. There were statistically significant difference between the two groups. Side-effects are abdominal pain and diarrhoea but most of the patients can endure. The above results indicated that the cisapride was safe and effective in treatment of functional dyspepsia.
Between 1982 and 1992, nine cases of oesophageal caustic stricture underwent oesophagogastric double anastomosis with success. There was no need to dissect and resect the strictured esophagus, and traumatizing organs adjacent to oesophgus was avoided. This method also eliminated the possibility of occurrence mediastinal abscess due to postoperative rebindling or infection by the esophageal segment. Indications for this operation are as follows: the esophageal stenosis located below the aorta arch; the stomach mobilized and pulled up to the upper level above the aorta arch dispite the presence of scattered caustic shrinkage; to assess the location and extent of corrosive injury and determine the level of reestablishment of the digestive tract through routine preoperative fiberoptic oesophagoscopy. This simplified procedure shortens the operating time, but yields excellent result.
The morphology and morphogenesis of isolated hepatitis E virus (HEV, strain 87A) were observed by electron microscopy (EM) and immune electron microscopy (IEM). Progressively developing local vesicles, virions accumulation in crystalline arrays and viroplasmic focus were seen in cytoplasm of infected cells. Replication and assembly of the new generation viruses were closely associated with rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), inclusion body (IB) and microfibrils. Condensation and margination of chromatin, dispersion of nucleolar material, nuclear membrane alteration and masses of threads, granular material, and fibrillar component of the nucleus were frequently found. These changes revealed that this strain virus was confirmed as a RNA virus. The shape of the virus particles appeared approximately spherical whether the specimens were from the tissue culture crude suspension or purified highly concentrated preparations. The size of the virion was about 30 nm in diameter. The viral particles appeared unsmooth and irregular in outline. The spike-like structures may be occasionally observed on the surface of some viral capsides. The diameter of the strain 87 A virus is larger than the picornavirus and smaller than the calicivirus. This strain virus is different from classical calicivirus in without the cup-shaped surface depressions. The new genus, heparnavirus genus of caliciviridae family should be proposed for HEV.
To study shock in early acute pancreatitis (AP), we observed the change of mesenterio-angial microcirculation in the rat with AP induced by sodium taurocholate infused into the pancreatic duct. Meanwhile, the effect of platelet activating factor (PAF) receptor antagonist BN52021 upon the animal with AP was also investigated. 18 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups: pancreatitis group pan + BN52021 group and control group. pan + BN52021 group was injected BN52021 (10mg/kg) intravenously 5 minutes and 180 minutes after AP induction. The other groups were injected normal saline. We also studied the survival times of rats. The results showed slow mesenterio-angial small arteriolar and venular blood flow velocity and dilated meseaterio-angial small venular diameter during the early phase of AP. An protective effect of BN52021 on mesenterio-angial microcirculation injuries accompanied by AP was confirmed Animals treated with BN52021 survived 458.3 +/- 9.5 minutes whereas death occurred 243.3 +/- 2.3 minutes after AP induction in untreated rats (P < 0.01).
On the MS culture medium containing some phytohormones, regenerated Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae can induce without low temperature callus which differentiates into a plant. The total alkaloid content of the culture is two-four times that of the stock and commercial Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae. The free-protein atlas of the culture is consistent with that of the stock.

The effectiveness of a single oral dose of Zinnat (cefuroxime axitil) in treating acute gonorrhoea was assessed in 12 men and 2 women who received 1.0 g. the cure rate was 85.7% (12/14). No adverse effect was found. Zinnat was effective, convenient, well tolerated and valuable drug in treatment of acute gonorrhoea.
The clinical radiologic manifestations of 8 patients with osteopetrosis (4 males and 4 females) are analyzed. Six of the cases are benign. The pathologic basis for the radiologic manifestations is discussed, and a classification is suggested. "Broom-like" metaphyses, metaphyses containing three or four dense layers of bone, and ossification of soft tissues around joints were found and differential diagnosis was made.
The morphologic characteristics of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses in children with cleft palate were studied by means of histopathology, CT scan, computer-aided image analysis and three-dimensional CT (3DCT) reconstruction. Our results suggested (1) incompetent velopharynx is the main reason for high incidence of sinusitis in children with cleft palate; (2) computer-aided image analysis, together with 3DCT reconstruction, may calculate and demonstrate the volume and shape of the paranasal sinuses. We believe this method may be useful in the future to study the development of the paranasal sinuses in children. 3DCT reconstruction provides a better understanding of the size and invasion of the lesion located in nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. This method may be used as an aid to teaching and surgical planning.
The acid-soluble extract of rat uterus cavity wall was obtained by washing out the normal Sprague-Dawley rat uterus cavity with 1% acetic acid in the presence of protease inhibitors. When tested for antibacterial activity by sensitive agarose diffusion assay, the extract effectively killed E. coli ML-35P. The bactericidal activity of the acid-soluble extract was further analyzed by gel overlay technique. The result showed that three protein bands, which were designated rat uterus protein 1 (rat UP-1), rat uterus protein 2 (rat UP-2), and rat uterus protein 3 (rat UP-3), were potently antibacterial against E. coli ML-35P. The rat UP-1, rat UP-2, and rat UP-3 accounted for 4.5%, 5.7%, and 6.6% of the total proteins of the rat uterus acid-soluble extract respectively. The lysoplate assay for the determination of lysozyme activity showed that extract had some lysozyme activity, but the activity was very low. AU-PAGE analysis of the extract did not show the presence of lysozyme on the gel. This study suggested that the uterus wall might secrete some currently-unknown antibiotic polypeptides which play an important role in the uterus defense against bacterial infections.
To evaluate the efficacy of a second generation acid pump inhibitor-lansoprazole (L) a controlled clinical trial in 72 patients of duodenal ulcer was carried out with omeprazole (O) as control. The results showed that the ulcer healing rate after 4-week treatment was 97.4% in lansoprazole group and 91.2% in omeprazole, while the effective rate was 100% and 97.1% respectively (P > 0.05). Ulcer related pain was relieved more quickly in lansoprazole group. The pain relief rate after treatment of 3 days was different significantly between the two group, being 74.3% (L) and 51.6% (O) respectively (P < 0.05). No marked side-effect was observed in lansoprazole group. It is shown that lansoprazole is effective and safe for treatment of duodenal ulcer.
OBJECTIVE: To study the relationship between the time of cesarean section and the outcome of mothers and newborns. METHODS: One hundred and three pregnant women suffered from preeclampsia (< 37 weeks 34, > or = 37 weeks 69) and 109 newborns (twins 6) were enrolled for study. The rates of neonatal asphyxia, perinatal mortality and morbidity such as pneumonia, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and meconium staining amniotic fluid were observed. RESULTS: The cesarean section rate was 83.06% in preeclampsia cases and it was 94.44% in cases with gestational age less than 37 weeks. There was no maternal death. Neonatal asphyxia rate was 6.67%, and the perinatal mortality rate was 6.67%. After 37 weeks the perinatal mortality rate was 1.41% (P > 0.05) and neonatal asphyxia rate 28.17% (P < 0.01). The rate of pneumonia and meconium staining amniotic fluid were obviously increased. CONCLUSIONS: These observations suggest that fetal lung maturation tended to ahead of gestational age in pregnancy induced hypertension. After 37 weeks complications of both mother and baby increased. In severe preeclampsia cases, pregnancy should be terminated at 34-36 gestational weeks, and cesarean section is the first choice.

We have detected a protein or complex of proteins with a native molecular mass of 160 kDa from the nuclear extract of HeLa cells, which binds specifically to the human antioxidant responsive element (ARE) in the 5'-flanking region of the NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase gene. Binding of the 160 kDa protein to oligonucleotides containing the ARE in gel mobility shift assays is diminished or abolished by increasing concentrations of the reducing agent dithiothreitol, but not by anti-Jun or anti-Fos antibodies. The effect of dithiothreitol is opposite to that observed for the Ref-1-mediated binding of Fos/Jun to the ARE or to the related 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate responsive element (TRE). Competition assays indicated that the binding of the 160 kDa protein requires the ARE sequence, TGACNNNGCA, with T as the most important base, and that the TRE sequence (TGACTCA) is not sufficient. F9 cells, which contain no AP-1 protein, were able to form a complex with the same mobility as the 160 kDa protein in gel mobility shift assays. We conclude that a 160 kDa protein or complex of proteins binds specifically to the human ARE sequence but not to the TRE. The 160 kDa protein does not contain Fos or Jun proteins, and its binding is abolished by the reducing agent, dithiothreitol.
