Sclerosing cholangitis following the treatment of echinococcosis of the liver.
A case is presented of sclerosing cholangitis following surgical removal of an echinococcal cyst of the liver. This is the second such case reported in the literature. The cause of this complication is not clear, but may be related to the use of formalin to sterilise the cyst contents.

Effect of beta-carotene supplementation on serum alpha-tocopherol concentration.
Conflicting reports of the effects of beta-carotene supplementation on serum alpha-tocopherol concentration led us to evaluated serum alpha-tocopherol in subjects with and without beta-carotene (30 mg/day) supplementation for up to 2 years duration in an ongoing chemoprevention trial. No adverse effect has been observed at any of the time periods examined.
