[Treatment of pathologic hip dislocation caused by hematogenic osteomyelitis in children and adolescents].

The article discusses 94 patients with pathological dislocation of the hip after hematogenous osteomyelitis who underwent reconstructive-restorative operations on 101 joints. According to the clinical and X-ray signs, all patients were divided into 4 main groups. The types of surgical interventions performed depending on the severity of involvement of the proximal part of the femur and the acetabulum are indicated. Patients with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis of the proximal femur must be subjected to early orthopedic prophylaxis and kept under strict medical control of a specialist. Pathological dislocations of the hip are managed by operation which is determined by the type of the condition.

Acute Disease↗

[Vascular and microscopic changes in hip joint tissues in Perthes' disease].

Electron-microscopic and angiographic studies of hip joints (healthy and sick) were performed. Bone-cartilaginous tissue and tissue of a joint capsula from 14 patients (7 to 14 years old) obtained during the operation were studied; angiography was performed in 6 patients during their life. Degenerative processes with a predominance of a hydropic dystrophy develop in the joint cartilage of the femur head. Collagen structures undergo mucoid swelling and dysproteinosis. Edema of the joint capsula, mainly its deep layers, is characteristic for this disease. Pathomorphological changes develop against the background of a vascular deficiency.

Adolescent↗

[Pathological dislocation of the femur in young children--a problem for the pediatrician, surgeon and orthopedist].

The authors consider, that orthopedic treatment should be carried out from the first days of illness together with the surgent of the unit of the newborns or the department of children surgery. The results of treatment of metaepiphysial osteomyelitis of femoral bone proximal end in early age children depend on timely diagnostics, treatment adequacy, rational fixation of the injured extremity and subsequent orthopedic treatment.
