[The lipid peroxidation indices of hypertension patients undergoing combined therapy with anaprilin, korinfar and hypothiazide].

Lipid peroxidation (LPO) products and activity of antioxidant defense (AOD) were evaluated in the whole blood and red cells of 78 patients with hypertension stage II given anapriline, corinfar and hypotiazid. Combined therapy with anapriline and hypotiazid (80-120 mg/day and 50 mg/day, respectively) diminishes concentrations of diene conjugates and malonic dialdehyde (MDA) in blood though LPO parameters after the treatment exceeded those of healthy subjects. Native antioxidants content and activity of antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase increased. Combination of corinfar (30-60 mg/day) with anapriline (80-120 mg/day) inhibits LPO and antioxidant defense activity to optimal leading to normalization of some LPO values and activity of antioxidant enzymes after the treatment. This combination was also effective as related to lowering of high blood pressure.

[The significance of the antioxidant properties of emoxipin in the combined treatment of patients with chronic heart failure].

It was found that emoxypin (40 mg daily) with nitrates of prolonged action and corinfar used in 87 patients with chronic cardiac insufficiency (CCI) reduces the concentration of primary and secondary products of lipid peroxidation to control levels which is not observed when only corinfar and nitrates of prolonged action were used. Simultaneous use of prazosin and emoxypin favoured balanced oxidant-antioxidant system of the body.

[Effects of emoxipine on lipid peroxidation in patients with chronic heart failure].

Lipid peroxidation (LPO) was studied in 90 patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) in relation to the disease stage. The patients with various CHF showed increased LPO and decreased antioxidative function. Impaired LPO was more pronounced in patients with Stage II CHF. To correct LPO processes, emoxipine, a new synthetic antioxidant, was used in 48 patients. The agent in a dose of 40 mg/day was ascertained to have a regulatory effect on the oxidative-antioxidative system in patients with heart failure. A more profound effect was observed in patients with Stage I patients. The main mechanism of the antioxidative action of emoxipine in CHF was to enhance glutathione reductase and glutathione peroxidase and to lower the level on dienic conjugates in patients with Stage IIB CHF.

[The clinico-morphological parallels in diffuse connective tissue diseases].

The authors present an investigation of the clinical and morphological signs and symptoms of diffuse diseases of the connective tissue in 27 of 50 examined patients. For verification of connective tissue disease it is recommended to carry out early histological examination of the biopsy specimens. The biopsy material should be adequately taken with consideration of the area and depth of involved tissue.

[Rehabilitation of patients with myocardial infarction living in rural areas].

The experience gained in the introduction of new organizational structure for providing emergency cardiac care to rural population was summarized and social effectiveness of rehabilitative treatment of 653 rural patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction was studied. Early and centralized hospitalization of patients with myocardial infarction from rural areas to specialized regional, interregional and district cardiological departments, the practical application of the principle of step-by-step treatment made it possible to improve the quality of treatment, to lower the rates of primary qualification for invalidism up to 21.4 percent and provided an opportunity to rehabilitate during 6 months 77.2 percent of patients. Unsolved issues of improving cardiological care to rural population were also discussed.
