Osteoid osteoma of the pisiform seems not to have been previously reported. In both the cases reported in this paper there was diagnostic difficulty and delay. Complete surgical removal of the nidus was curative.
Proximal involvement of the innervation of the arm is a well recognised cause of hand symptoms; a proximal vascular abnormality is rarely responsible. This case report describes such a rare cause, namely, a post-stenotic aneurysm of the subclavian artery due to an abnormal first rib but in the absence of a cervical rib or scalene bands.
A description is given of a fibroma associated with an anomalous muscle arising from the flexor digitorum superficialis indicis tendon distal to the transverse carpal ligament, which presented as a stiff painful finger.
A case of pseudo-malignant osseous tumour of soft tissue in the hand is described. The history was over two years with intractable pain becoming the dominant symptom. There was no history of trauma or infection initiating the condition. Local amputation provided complete relief of symptoms and there has been no recurrence in two years.
A case is described of an unusually large lipofibromatous hamartoma arising from the tendon sheath of flexor pollicis longus.

A review is presented of 508 feet in 310 patients after telescoping osteotomy of the lesser metatarsals for metatarsalgia. The patients were predominantly female (80%), with a mean age of 55 years; the range of follow-up was 1 to 12 years. In 22% of the patients the metatarsalgia was associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Improvements in assessment and modifications in technique are reported and the management of complications is discussed. The results show that telescoping osteotomy for established cases of pressure metatarsalgia is a simple and reliable operation. Permanent relief of symptoms can be expected in over 80% of patients.

A review of the orthopaedic manifestations of acromegaly has been carried out from a study of literature. A further special study of 83 acromegalic patients reveals that about one third consulted the specialist for surgical intervention. In 14 of 28 patients a surgical intervention became necessary. The most frequent cases in question were nerve decompression. Recovery and success rate were always satisfactory.

The discovery of one angioma of the thyroid among 1000 thyroidectomy specimens examined confirmed the extremely rare nature of this lesion. These angiomas, localized to the thyroid gland, are observed in adults and could result from an intrathyroidal mesenchymatous inclusion. They should be distinguished from childhood forms which occur within the framework of an almost always fatal multiple viscera angiomatous disease. Diagnosis is difficult before operation, while the prognosis is excellent after partial thyroid excision.
There is a higher risk that the tendon of extensor pollicis longus will rupture in undisplaced Colles' type of fracture than in those which are displaced. This difference in incidence is due to the integrity of the extensor retinaculum in undisplaced Colles' type of fracture causing the tendon to be held tight against the fracture callus in the floor of the tunnel which may result in an attrition rupture. In the displaced Colles' fracture the extensor retinaculum is torn from the bone and thus permits the tendon to escape from contact with the fracture site.
